Last week, Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) invited its key service contractors to the HyHome in Wollert for a BBQ breakfast, offering a real-life glimpse into the future of sustainable energy solutions. Service Stream was proud to attend with a diverse team, including crews, supervisors, planners, and managers, to explore the direction the gas distribution industry is heading. Troy Kooloos, Head of Gas Operations for Service Stream, shared his excitement: “It’s exciting to be able to bring the team in to see and feel a real-life example of what the future could look like. I’m proud to be part of the Gas Industry providing critical services for Multinet Gas Networks (part of AGIG), who are focused on supporting Australia in reaching its NetZero goals."   The HyHome, where the gas appliances are powered by hydrogen, features world-first appliances that offer a sustainable alternative to natural gas. When powered by renewable hydrogen, these appliances produce ZERO carbon emissions. Service Stream attended the South Australian Aboriginal Building & Civil Construction Academy's Annual Gala last week in Adelaide to celebrate progress made towards empowering and employing First Peoples.   The gala brought together community, like-minded partners, industry and government with a keen interest in supporting and accelerating Indigenous Procurement Policy Targets, such as Aboriginal Workforce Participation.   “On reflection, it was a night filled with stories of dedication and persistence, success and future focus, laughter and lived experiences. Today, on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day in Australia, we at Service Stream stand together to acknowledge the ongoing challenges of family and domestic violence across Australia. As part of our commitment to making a difference, we partnered with the Salvation Army to deliver a session on Constructive Bystander Behaviours to our workforce last week. This session empowered our people to be active allies and advocates in the fight against family and domestic violence, highlighting the important role each of us plays in supporting victims and survivors. We were privileged to have experts from the Salvation Army lead this critical conversation, and on White Ribbon Day, we reaffirm our dedication to taking action and standing united against family and domestic violence. On a recent volunteer day, the Service Stream South East Water Maintenance team spent time giving back to the community by assisting with the wonderful charity, Backpacks 4 VIC Kids (B4VK), in Cranbourne West. This remarkable organisation is dedicated to supporting children in emergency or out-of-home care by providing essential items to ease their transition into new homes. On the day of our visit, the team had the incredible opportunity to help pack the 50,000th backpack, a milestone that speaks volumes about the impact B4VK has had on children in need. In Victoria, approximately 18,000 children are in out-of-home care, with 85,000 across Australia. This doesn’t even account for children affected by domestic violence, natural disasters, or immigration. Sadly, many of these children are under the age of 5, and for babies in care, the lack of stability can be especially challenging—often moving between 3 to 5 different placements in their first 18 months. This makes building trust and feeling secure incredibly difficult. Backpacks 4 Vic Kids aims to provide 3,500 backpacks this year, covering 65% of children entering out-of-home care in Victoria. Through generous donations from businesses and individuals, as well as purchases made by the organisation, these backpacks are filled with essential items such as clothing, toiletries, blankets, and even a toy or book for comfort. The day spent volunteering at B4VK was incredibly humbling for everyone involved. The team worked together to pack various items, including toiletries, clothing, and toys, into the backpacks. The process was a reminder of how something as simple as a backpack can provide stability and comfort to a child in crisis. The volunteers were particularly moved by the hand-knitted toys and jackets donated by the community, a tangible symbol of the kindness that fuels the charity’s work. The essential items in each backpack, including hats, socks, books, and even a “blankey” for comfort, help to provide a sense of security and belonging for children who have experienced trauma. The team left with a renewed appreciation for the work B4VK does and the children they serve and will be organising another volunteer day next year, and this time we will also launch a fundraising drive across our offices to help fill more backpacks for kids in need. As Peter Hogan, South East Water Maintenance Contract Manager, shared: “Our team spent a wonderful day volunteering at an amazing charity. It was a truly eye-opening experience to learn about the number of kids needing emergency assistance and how this charity helps by providing the essentials. We look forward to continuing our support for this wonderful cause and making a difference in the lives of even more children". #KeepingCommunitiesConnected #backpacks4kids #community #volunteering

A big congratulations goes out to Gloria Tan on being confirmed a Finalist in the Young Professional Award category for the ITS Australia Awards 2025.   Gloria began her career in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in 2019 on the Victorian Managed Motorways Contract, and since then has managed condition surveys for more than 2,200 ITS assets to determine maintenance and upgrade requirements.   Gloria has successfully implemented predictive maintenance models and used data analytic regimes to integrate planned and reactive maintenance strategies and activities for Transport networks across Victoria.   In her current role as Asset Manager, Gloria is highly focused on driving operational performance outcomes through advanced data analysis and data-driven decision making.   The winner will be announced at the 15th Annual ITS Australia Awards ceremony on 13 February 2025 in Perth.   We are so very proud of you Gloria and all you have achieved here at Service Stream - whatever the outcome, you are a winner in our eyes!   #KeepingCommunitiesConnected #Finalist #ITS

Today, we celebrate and congratulate 24 outstanding leaders and the first cohort to complete our newly revamped WomenRise Program! In partnership with Success2you, we relaunched our women’s leadership program this year with two tailored courses aimed at unlocking the full potential of emerging and senior female leaders across Service Stream. These programs were designed to accelerate both their professional and personal growth, helping them navigate the challenges of leadership while strengthening their impact across the organisation. Throughout this intensive program, participants demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedication, and passion. They not only grew individually but also supported one another in breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of women leaders at Service Stream. Graduation ceremonies this week saw executive leaders and managers come together to support the graduates, and hear powerful stories of empowerment, self-belief and transformation from these inspiring leaders. At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we pause for #RemembranceDay and acknowledge all those who suffered or died in wars, conflicts or peace operations protecting our nation. At Service Stream, we celebrate the veterans we employ and recognise the tremendous contribution veterans have made to Australian communities and workplaces. As signatories of the #VeteranEmploymentCommitment, our commitment to supporting veterans is demonstrated through our partnerships with both Working Spirit Ltd and RSL Queensland, and in our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Action Plan, with a strategic focus on creating supports for veterans and their families throughout their employment at Service Stream. In honour of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth this October, we share three powerful stories of resilience, hope, and survival.   Breast cancer remains a life-altering reality for many. Every day, 58 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, and sadly, 9 die from the disease. The best path to survival remains early detection supported by regular check-ups.
