From all of us at Silverback, we applaud your dedication to advancing the role of women in the transport industry. We’re excited to see the impact you’ll make in this important leadership role.

At their AGM last night Transport Women Australia Limited added four new Board Members, Loretta Hartley of Toowoomba, Claudia Foini and Ainsleigh Thomas of Sydney and Katrina Burns of Melbourne. They also said goodbye to Jo Hansen of Brisbane after one year on the Board. Jo has unfortunately been unwell throughout the year and TWAL thanks her for her valued service. Simone Reinertsen also left the Board in September after three years and we are very grateful for her contribution. The new directors join the team with Jacquelene Brotherton (2017) as Chair, Coralie Chapman (2016) as Vice Chair and Company Secretary, and Di Caldwell-Smith (2016), Penne Murphy (2021), and Katharina Zink Attana (2023) as Directors. Loretta Hartley is the Client Manager: Transport – AON Risk Services, Toowoomba Management of the Transport, Plant & Logistics Portfolio – Southwest Queensland. She has been in the transport insurance industry for approximately 12 years and is a long-term member of the TWAL team. She is currently a member of the Social Media Subcommittee. She has been recognized by the Transport Women Australia Limited Dream Maker Award and an Elite Woman in Insurance Top 50. Claudia Foini is the DXT NSW State Manager (Doble Express Transport) based in Sydney, she has 22 years of transport experience, has been a volunteer in our schools and careers initiative and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.   Ainsleigh Thomas is the NSW/ACT State Linehaul Manager for Startrack – NSW/ACT Operations. Ainsleigh was a 2023 TWAL Driving the Difference scholarship recipient, the inaugural TWAL 2024 Young Gunnette award Winner and a 2024 Road Freight NSW Emerging Leader finalist.   She is currently a member of the Social Media Subcommittee.  Katrina Burns is the State Manager VIC/TAS for Silverback Cargo Care, she has been in the transport and logistics industry for 12 years and was named as the VTA 2018 Young Achiever of the Year at the Australian Freight Industry Awards. These four directors will join with the five current directors to form the largest board to have taken command of Transport Women Australia Limited and will allow the organisation to continue its growth and produce further projects and initiatives to add ongoing value to present and future members. TWAL this year became a member of the ATA, continued its partnerships with Linfox, Prime Creative Media - Publishing and Viva Energy Australia and partnered with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Heads in Trucks and Sheds as well as embedding its membership of both the National Rural Womens Coalition, (Jacquelene is Vice President), and the Australian Gender Equality Council.   #transportwomen #twal #drivingthedifference #livingthedream #creatingconnections #dreammaker #dreamaccelerator #womeninleadership

🌧️ Moisture Control in Cargo: Why It Matters 🌧️ When shipping goods, one often overlooked yet crucial aspect is moisture control. It can make or break the quality and safety of the cargo being transported. Here's why it should be top of mind for logistics and supply chain professionals: 🔹 Protecting Cargo: Excess moisture can lead to product damage, mould, rust, and spoilage. Proper moisture management ensures that items reach their destination in prime condition. 🔹 Maintaining Safety: Cargo like electronics, textiles, and food can be highly sensitive to humidity. Without effective moisture control, companies risk not just product loss but safety issues and financial setbacks. 🔹 Preserving Reputation: Consistent, damage-free deliveries enhance customer trust and business reliability. Investing in moisture control solutions, from specialised packaging to humidity-absorbing materials and climate-controlled containers, can significantly impact your bottom line. Don't let moisture be a silent disruptor in your supply chain. Let's prioritise smarter, safer cargo handling. https://lnkd.in/gPsHdSrp #Logistics #SupplyChain #Cargo #MoistureControl #Efficiency #Silverback

  • 🔒 Choosing the Right Ratchet Tie Down Assemblies for Different Loads 🔒 When it comes to securing cargo during transport, selecting the right ratchet tie-down assembly is essential. Different loads require different types of tie-downs for safety and effectiveness. Here’s how to choose the right one: 1. Consider Load Size & Weight: For light loads, standard 1" or 2" straps may be sufficient. For heavier cargo, opt for stronger 3" straps with higher load capacities. 2. Know the Working Load Limit (WLL): Always choose a tie-down assembly with a WLL that exceeds the weight of the cargo to ensure secure restraint. 3. Strap Material: Polyester is commonly used due to its strength, durability, and resistance to UV degradation—ideal for both indoor and outdoor transport. 4. Ratchet Mechanism: Ensure the ratchet mechanism is easy to operate and has a secure locking system. This prevents loosening during transit. 5. Cargo Type: For irregularly shaped or fragile loads, use softer, padded straps to avoid damaging the cargo. For bulky or industrial items, use wider straps for better load distribution. By choosing the right ratchet tie-down, you can ensure your load is secure and reduce the risk of damage during transport. Stay safe, stay secure! 🚛 #Logistics #CargoSecurity #LoadRestraint #RatchetTieDown #TransportSafety #Freight #Silverback

  • 🚛 The Art of Proper Load Restraint: Key Techniques for Secured Transport 🚛 Ensuring your cargo stays secure during transport is crucial for both safety and efficiency. Here are some key techniques for proper load restraint: 🔹 Select the Right Tools: Use G70 chains, load binders, or ratchet tie-downs based on the weight and shape of your load. 🔹 Balance the Load: Distribute the weight evenly and centre the cargo to prevent shifting. 🔹 Apply Correct Tension: Tighten ratchet straps enough to secure the load, but avoid over-tightening to prevent damage. 🔹 Use Shoring Bars: For extra support, use shoring bars to fill gaps and prevent lateral movement. 🔹 Regular Checks: Always monitor restraints during transit to ensure they remain secure. Mastering these techniques helps reduce risks, protect your cargo, and keep your operations running smoothly. Safe transport starts with proper load restraint! 💪 #Logistics #CargoSecurity #LoadRestraint #TransportSafety #Freight #Silverback
