2024 was a jam packed year, which no doubt kept a lot of us on our toes. So what does 2025 have in store for us? For our first Market Insights of 2025, we’ve taken a look at a bunch of market outlooks from research teams around the world and selected some of the insights we think you’ll find useful or interesting. This is the first part of our coverage on the outlook for 2025, and looks at the themes and catalysts most commonly mentioned. We’re also highlighting a few insights relevant to specific countries and regions. Next week, in Part 2, we’ll share the best insights about sectors and key industries in 2025. https://lnkd.in/gyjKq972

At Simply Wall St, we believe successful investors follow three principles: 1. Think in decades, not months, 2. Reach your own conclusions, 3. Be a lifelong learner. This is our last newsletter of the year and a good time to focus on the third of those principles - the investing lessons we can all take from 2024. It’s been an eventful year and there have been lots of opportunities to learn. We’ve narrowed it down to 7, but we would love to know if you have others to add. If you’re experiencing déjà vu, fret not, because we did the same thing back in 2023. If you missed last year's lessons, here are our 7 Investing Lessons From 2023. https://lnkd.in/gUQP5CxB

Happy $100k Bitcoin to all those who celebrate. Bitcoin has been in the news again for a few reasons: Firstly, it just passed the milestone of $100k USD per coin last week, though it did pull back shortly after. Secondly, the incoming administration has talked about a Bitcoin strategic reserve, Thirdly, more companies are discussing the idea of adopting it as a treasury reserve asset, and Lastly, the ETFs are reporting growing inflows and AUM. This week, we wanted to discuss some of those news items, and what institutional and corporate adoption of Bitcoin would mean for the commodity. https://lnkd.in/grN_MMPJ

The US dollar has been on a tear since September, and since Donald Trump became the US President-elect. The strength of the USD, and the impact of his policies on inflation and interest rates, are likely to be a major factor for global markets in 2025. It seems Trump also aims to come across as unpredictable to give him the upper hand in trade negotiations - and that spells volatility for currency markets. We thought this would be a good time to have a look at what a stronger, or weaker, US dollar means for global equities, and how you can prepare yourself for what might eventuate. https://lnkd.in/gxTRrCE2

This earnings season has been another reminder of the astonishing profitability of online advertising. Three out of the seven most valuable companies in the world earn a big chunk — if not all — of their revenue from ads. Antitrust legislation and the emergence of LLMs mean there could be some changes ahead for the industry. This week, we are taking a closer look at digital advertising and adtech, and why many companies are getting into the space. https://lnkd.in/gkHfjD_y

Donald Trump and the Republican Party made a clean sweep in the US election. Some aspects of Trump’s campaign were a little vague, but we can be fairly certain of lower taxes and deregulation. That, and the strong US economy, should lead to higher corporate profits. On the other hand, the policies he plans to enact could be inflationary, and US government debt doesn’t look like it’s coming down anytime soon. This week we are having a look at what a second Trump presidency could mean for investors in the US and elsewhere. https://lnkd.in/gHw7sq6u

It’s now been almost two years since ChatGPT was introduced to the world, igniting an AI-fueled rally that is still continuing. We thought it would be a good time to check in on the industry and have a look at the winners, losers, and those still building for the future (which, to be honest, is most of them). Plus, we discussed why periods of heavy capex can provide great opportunities. Also, while the US election was a few days ago, we're going to do a deep dive on it next week and what it means for investors. https://lnkd.in/gyPw5nhJ

Whoever is running nuclear power’s PR team deserves a raise. With trends in global power consumption rapidly going up and to the right, nuclear energy has received a lot of positive attention due to its ability to deliver clean and reliable energy at scale. We gave an overview of the industry back in September last year during our Big Trends series, and we checked in again on developments in May this year when the uranium price was peaking. Since then, a few big catalysts have unfolded that are worth discussing, and some big challenges still remain. This raises some long-term and short-term opportunities in the energy space. https://lnkd.in/gWxAV-hg
