It’s been another successful year for the Digital Donation Program with over 143 laptops distributed across 130 community organisations in 2024. The Stone Hut Soldiers Memorial Hall was one of the successful organisations. Built in 1926 with community-raised funds, the Memorial Hall will celebrate its centenary in 2026. The hall was debt-free upon opening, a testament to the community's dedication to honouring local soldiers who served in WWI, some of whom did not return. Mrs. W. Baker, who lost two of her three sons in the war, laid the foundation stone. After years of neglect and near collapse, the Kotz family initiated renovations, supported by the Stone Hut community, grants, and the Northern Areas Council. Pat Saltmarsh, Assistant Secretary, says ‘the new laptop will be invaluable as we approach the centenary, facilitating communications and grant applications’. The laptop has already been put to good use with meetings being held at various locations including the Hall and the local bakery. #DigitalDonation #DTFCareers #Community #Memorial #Digital #SouthAustralia
