The role is responsible for establishing physiology service plan priorities and initiatives, implementing and interpreting field and laboratory testing, applying specialist skills to improve elite athlete development, and effective communication and dissemination of information to optimise performance outcomes. This is a PO1 position with an annual salary range of $68,478 - $83,594 and will be offered as a three year contract. This position will establish and lead a team of up to five coaches and performance support professionals with the collective goal of recruiting and developing talented South Australian para-sport athletes. The outcome will be an increase in the number of categorised para-athletes in South Australia to enable greater representation and medal success at the LA 2028, Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games and beyond. A key priority of the role is leadership and management of the team to enable effective: • Talent identification and talent transfer initiatives. • Sport selection for eligible athletes. • Para-sport pathway identification in South Australia, para-sport classification. • Athlete development. • Performance support delivery. • Health, wellbeing and risk mitigation within the sport environment. • Inclusion of para-sports and para-athletes within SASI and partner organisations. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management and coaching of nationally categorised able bodied and para-athletes in SASI’s high performance swimming program ensuring that athletes can achieve podium performances at international benchmark events.
