"Plenty has been written about the future challenges for inland wine regions reliant on fragile rivers. While much of the attention has gone to exploring new varieties of climatic compatability, the Mason and Alm families at Starrs Reach have done brilliant work in reimagining how traditional varieties can be better grown. Thoughtful viticulture has produced this bright balanced and lively Grenache that delivers both pleasure and optimism." Nick Ryan - The Australian Weekend Magazine. If you had told us 4 years ago that our wines would be selected in The Weekend Australian Magazine's Top 100, we would have said 'dream on'! Four years ago we set out to produce Riverland branded wine that was affordable, inclusive, fun and pushed the boundaries of what was perceived as possible. Feeling mighty pleased and optimistic! About us
Proudly grown on the banks of the mighty River Murray, these berries have matured with bright sunshine, low inputs and responsible water use; and then rested under a vast dark sky where abundant stars shine. For six generations our family has nurtured our farms and their environment. We are committed to the future as custodians of this land to ensure its good health for our children and community. Viticulture is at the heart of what we do. The Starrs Reach wines start in the vineyard and we are dedicated to the care they receive. The Starrs Reach properties collaboratively produce over 6000 tonnes of popular premium style wine grapes over 238 hectares of vineyard. In addition to the vineyards, the properties also produce almond and citrus crops and are committed to conserving and enhancing significant areas of river floodplain and highland mallee vegetation

Sharing our wines, vineyards, amazing river and landscape with International guests. Thanks Wine Australia
The South Australia section of the US/UK media visit continued with a day in Riverland, starting out touring the vineyard at Oxford Landing, with a tasting on the landing led by winemaker Andy La Nauze, followed by an al fresco lunch at Bassham Wines, with a tasting of wines produced from alternative varieties from their organically farmed vineyards, including Delinquente and Unico Zelo. Next up was Starrs Reach vineyard, with a tour and tasting led by Sheridan Alm, and finishing up with a boat trip on the Murray River, tasting through some Ricca Terra wines with Ashley Ratcliff (along with a little waterskiing), and a BBQ dinner at Bookpurnong Station with Ricca Terra and Mallee Estate wines. On Wednesday we enjoyed a visit from a group of US and UK wine media. We shared our love for our vineyards and the wine we craft, our river, wetlands and music with them. The message of the day was to make wine for the people and that from little things big things grow. As farmers we look to the distant future and often start things that we may not see completed, sustainability is a journey not a destination. Thanks to Wine Australia and Riverland Wine for getting our lovely guests to our fabulous region. Kathleen Willcox Julie Sheppard Emily Saladino Dave McIntyre Caitlin A. If you’re a wine or podcast lover, then listen up! I was lucky enough to be part of the Healthy Minds, Healthy Vines podcast with THE man of the moment, Nick Ryan, and the episode is now live! 🎙️ My episode called “Juggling Kids, Wine and the Grind” (classic!) dives into how I balance running Starrs Reach with my husband Craig, parenting five amazing children, and trying to find a little time for myself. I will confess that I am not great at self care and having to admit this for all the world to see was challenging but quite a revelation. When our social media spreads are jam packed full of beautiful and successful people looking after themselves so well it’s hard to face the fact that we don’t quite have the work life balance thing sorted. But hey, that’s not a complete fail….that is called living and learning and I am far from perfect. It’s the little things that count!! So listen in to hear more about the challenges and joys of managing a vineyard that’s as committed to sustainability as it is to producing top-notch wines. Plus, I share some behind-the-scenes stories of life in the Riverland and the innovations that earned us the ‘Innovative Vineyard of the Year’ title. Don’t miss my personal insights and unprofessional tips, perfect for your commute, morning walk, gym session or your next wine night in. 🍷 Check it out now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or Audible. Cheers to the balancing act! Thanks to Wine Grape Council of SA (WGCSA) for pulling this amazing initiative together. #StarrsReachVineyard #RiverlandWine #HealthyMindsHealthyVines

Today is possibly one of our favourite days of the year… It’s International Grenache Day 🍷 Grenache is like that dear friend you don’t see very often BUT when you do catch up, there is a gallon of laughs, so much in common, you get up to the same old shenanigans and it’s like you were never apart. You know the friend we are talking about don’t you? Now what can we say about Grenache that we haven't said already! Grenache is the variety that can play a supporting role or the lead and pull it off each time. Bright, juicy and round with a reputation for bringing out the best in any other grape variety and teaming smashingly with almost any dish it is served with. Make an International Grenache Day resolution with our help and say I am going to spend more time with that old friend because they rock! From our perspective Grenache is an absolute performer in a warm and sunny climate. Known as the warm inland equivalent of Pinot Noir it makes sense that Grenache holds the title of the most area planted to vine around the world. In our opinion it will always out perform Pinot based on it’s fresh fruity flavours and bright acidity. From the Rhone Valley of Southern France to the Riverland, from Rose to Fortified style wines lets raise a glass to our favourite, Grenache! #StarrsReachVineyard #RiverlandWine #InternationalGrenacheDay

Another review to grace your screens, and hopefully grace your wine glass one day soon! This time, Sam Kim from Wine Orbit reviewed our 2023 GSM, Interstellar 🩶 Here’s what he had to say… “The enticing bouquet shows dark berry, warm spice, hazelnut and rich floral aromas, which lead to a succulent palate offering fleshy texture backed by polished tannins, finishing long and silky. It's supple and smooth, yet with a robust structure, making it flavoursome and persistent. Score: 92. At its best: now to 2031.” Another huge thank you to Sam for his review of our Starrs Reach wines. You can go purchase Interstellar on our website now 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gx5cneVy
