  • The State Library of Western Australia and Screenwest are pleased to announce that WA Reflections is back for a third year to share unique stories of Western Australian history, culture and people. This short documentary initiative will enable up to four early to mid-career filmmaking teams to produce a documentary film inspired by items in the State Library’s collection. Previous WA Reflections projects range from a dramatisation of a ballroom murder mystery and a celebration of WA's musical history in the 60s, to insights into the Chinese migrant community of WA and the longest running LGBTQIA+ nightclub in the Southern Hemisphere. Funding of up to $25,000 is offered per project. Interested applicants are invited to attend an archive storytelling workshop on Saturday, 30 November 2024. We’re looking for a Senior Digitisation Officer with a strong photographic background to produce high-quality digital copies of our heritage collection material.   • In 2023-24, our vision to treasure stories, inspire possibilities and strengthen communities was brought to life through our collections, exhibitions, programs and events. We recorded a whopping 24 per cent increase in visitation with more than 520,000 visits to the State Library building. And we continue to deliver on key projects and priorities like the digitisation of at-risk audio-visual collections, support for public libraries and research collaborations.   • We have more exciting opportunities for Librarians to join the State Library team. This includes one part-time position in the Client Services team to help people explore our unique collections and support clients to build their digital literacy skills. We also have two full-time fixed-term roles on 2-year contracts available. These positions support the State Library’s role in assisting with the National Redress Scheme and provide client-facing services. There are also casual positions available to help with information and research services. These positions are based in Perth. Applications close on 13 October 2024.
