Steel Mains is proud to be the key manufacturer and supplier for pipes for the Alkimos to Wanneroo Desalination Pipeline, which will transfer drinking water from the new Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant and onto the community. WA Premier the Hon. Roger Cook, Water Minister Hon. Simone McGurk and Water Corporation CEO Pat Donovan were on site in Kwinana last Friday to formally announce commencement of construction of the pipeline. Our high-pressure Sintakote steel pipes will play a crucial role in delivering sustainable water solutions to the region. The 1626OD Welded Rubber Ring Joint Sintalock II and Sintajoint Rubber Ring Joint pipes are being manufactured at our Kwinana plant in Perth for Water Corporation using Australian manufactured BlueScope steel. This project highlights our commitment to major infrastructure developments and underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation in water management. The pipes are sized for energy optimisation, resulting in a 21% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions compared to smaller diameter pipes. Manufacturing is currently underway with construction of the 33.5km pipeline to begin in 2025. We look forward to contributing to this significant initiative that will strengthen water security and bolster the WA local economy. #Steelpipes #WaterCorporation #Australianmade

Steel Mains supplied 1219 OD Sintakote Mild Steel pipes for this critical above ground pipeline. The 1219 pipes were supplied with Rubber Ring Joints and Calcium Aluminate Cement lining to protect the internal lining from the wastewater fluid being conveyed. The pipeline, along with the original above ground pipe supplied by Steel Mains in the 80’s, will service the Ballarat South community. It has been great to work with Diona's Ballarat team on this important project and work through all the complex engineering requirements required for this above ground pipeline. #steelpipes #madeinaus #rrj

Steel Mains had the incredible opportunity to engage with "Women in Leadership" during a wonderful lunch last week, which we secured during the Victorian WaterAid Australia Gala Ball earlier in the year. This event provided a fantastic experience for some our key female staff to share diverse experiences and gain valuable insights into the challenges we all face, especially from a woman’s perspective. The discussions were enlightening and inspiring, offering valuable takeaways on managing various challenges and excelling in leadership roles. A great opportunity as we continue supporting the growth and success of women in our organisation. Thanks to our attendees for a great lunch, Gabrielle Bell, "Dona" Tantirimudalige, Sue O'Connor, Lindsey Brown, Olivia Barale, Nathaly Cansdell, Deepika Talwar, Trishla Sharma, Kristy Polley, Chiedza Malunga.

Nathaly Cansdell MBA had the opportunity to share her knowledge about the urban water cycle at a local Brisbane school during National Water Week. She took students on a journey, following Pip the Water Drop from the first raindrop to dams, through the water treatment plant, and finally to our cities and sewage treatment facilities. Nathaly explained the key raw materials that Steel Mains uses to manufacture Mild Steel Pipes including steel, cement lining, and our world leading “Sintakote” coating, that ensures the durability and safety of our pipes. Such a great opportunity to share with our next generation about the importance of water! 💧🚰 #nextgeneration #water #mildsteelpipes #education

1219 Sintakote MSCL pipe with two temporary access closures fabricated into the 5m long section. The temporary access closures are a great, cost effective solution for internal access required during construction while also maintaining the internal corrosion protection integrity when closed. The opening is 580mm wide and manufactured to suit the specific outside diameter. #steelpipes #madeinaus #engineering
