A couple of weeks ago, our very own Kjetil Pedersen had the privilege of presenting alongside A/Prof. Kate Nguyen at a half-day seminar hosted in Adelaide by the Society of Fire Safety (SFS). Together, they shared an insightful overview of the work they've been developing with Cladding Safety Victoria, including the latest updates on cladding research. The seminar hosted people from various parts of the industry, including South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service. This presentation followed a productive full-day meeting with the SFS Executive, where Kjetil serves as the National Deputy Chair and Kate as the Chair for the Victoria, Tasmania and Overseas chapter. It was a great opportunity to share progress in the field of fire safety and combustible cladding and further strengthen fire safety standards within the industry. And a big thanks to Pelle Zetterström and Andrew Braham for organising the seminar. #FireSafety #CladdingResearch #IndustryLeadership #SFS #BuildingSafety #Collaboration #CombustibleCladding

We are incredibly proud to have meticulously analysed and scrutinised the design of this cutting-edge building; to ensure a safe and compliant building without compromising the client's requirements and architectural vision. #FireSafetyEngineering #FireEngieering #FireSafety #MassTimber #CLT #GLT #Timber #T3Collingwood #T3
T3 Collingwood has been recognised with two prestigious awards of excellence from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). 🏆 Best Tall Building, by Height, Under 100 meters. 🏆 Best Tall Building, by Region, Oceania. T3 Collingwood is Melbourne’s tallest timber hybrid office building and the first project in Asia-Pacific to implement Hines’ T3 Strategy – Timber, Transit and Technology. The building represents a milestone in Australia’s low-carbon future, demonstrating the clear benefits of timber construction in the cost-sensitive commercial sector. We are incredibly proud to plan, manage and deliver T3 Collingwood and to see this achievement and grateful to the whole project team in making it a reality. Hines . NTT . *Navigating the Intersection of Politics, Innovation, and Building Codes* In a landscape where political agendas drive green initiatives, product development and innovation surge forward, and building codes strive to keep pace, gaps inevitably emerge between facts, assumptions, and the unknowns. Addressing these gaps requires a first-principles approach, ideally bolstered by robust government policy. Australian Building Codes Board, AFAC #BuildingCodes, #Innovation, #BuildingSafety
Some interesting discussions in the Q&A session at the Australian Building Codes Board Roadshow event for proposed changes to NCC 2025 yesterday. A key one being the somewhat opposing view between ABCB and the various fire brigades around the country when it comes to electric vehicles and EV charges. The truth probably sits somewhere in between... Slightly simplified perhaps, but it would appear, from my viewpoint at least, that the discrepancy might lie in the NCC viewing it from an occupant life safety point of view first and foremost, while fire service are focused on fire fighting first and foremost. As discussed with Nate this morning, when checking in on the latest status on the upcoming Practice Guide on EVs that is being developed by the Society of Fire Safety (Engineers Australia). The evidence appear to indicate (in general) that there is not an issue with occupant egress, possibly an issue with building safety, but that there are some issues for attending for brigade... What is clear to me is that there is still more research, guidance, as well as policy making required in this space. #firesafety #electricvehicles #SFS
