The energy from last week's unveiling of our Sydney Festival 2025 program remains vibrant! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Business Sydney for partnering with us during launch week, providing an invaluable platform to engage with Sydney’s business leaders. It was a pleasure to welcome Paul Nicolaou, whose warmth and energy as host set the perfect tone for an inspiring event. Joining him on stage were Uncle Allen Madden; Sydney Festival Chair Kate Dundas; Her Excellency, The Hon Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales and valued Patron of Sydney Festival; and The Hon John Graham MLC, NSW Minister for the Arts, Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy, and Minister for Jobs and Tourism. As guests joined us at The Thirsty Mile, our 2025 Festival Hub at Walsh Bay, Festival Director Olivia Ansell took to the stage to present the 2025 summer program. In a special moment, Paul Nicolaou honoured her as a Sydney Champion—a recognition that reflects her deep pride in her city and her inspiring vision and dedication to the arts. As a true Sydneysider, Olivia Ansell embodies the vibrant spirit of Sydney through her leadership and passion for the Festival and we’re proud to have her at the helm as we bring unforgettable experiences to our city this summer. Sydney Festival would not be possible without the support of our Principal Government Partners—the NSW Government through Create NSW, Destination NSW, and Placemaking NSW —as well as the City of Sydney, City of Parramatta, our Principal Philanthropic Supporter Peter Freedman AM, and all our corporate sponsors. During the week, Business Sydney, Sydney Festival and Airbnb held a lunch to celebrate the launch of Sydney Festival 2025. Sydney Festival is one of Australia’s largest international arts festivals, attracting the world’s best talent to our stunning harbour city. The buzz of summer wouldn’t be the same without the Festival’s spectacular theatre, music, dance, visual-art and live events splashed across Sydney each January. At this exciting launch, we were pleased to welcome Her Excellency, the Hon. Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales and Patron of Sydney Festival, and the Hon John Graham MLC, NSW Minister for the Arts, Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy, and Minister for Jobs and Tourism, were our special guests. Following remarks from the NSW Governor and Minister Graham, Festival Director, Olivia Ansell, provided an overview of the 2025 program. Guests were entertained by an exclusive performance from the program, featuring a special preview from the centrepiece show of Sydney Festival 2025, Siegfried and Roy, The Unauthorised Opera, which tells the rags to riches story of the highest-paid magic act in Las Vegas history.
