We’re excited to be part of this, as we look to unlock the potential of many non-traditional oyster sites.
In our latest project, 'Developing models and tools to quantify offshore production of aquaculture' testing hydroacoustic technology to measure biomass of macroalgae has commenced with the deployment of a multibeam echosounder at the Blue Economy CRC Macrocystis aquaculture site at Tinderbox in the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Project Lead, Dr Scott Hadley states, “We are excited to bring together industry partners, Tassal Group Petuna Aquaculture Tasmanian Oyster Company Limited BMT FRDC - Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and Echoview Software with Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) and researchers at IMAS/University of Tasmania and CSIRO to look at improving our understanding and management of offshore aquaculture. This integrated approach will provide vital information for industry as it expands into new locations”.
