Is Demand Gen just 'great marketing'? Yeah, But it helps to have a category for it when talking about it internally As Adam Holmgren says: "If I said internally that I'm only focussing on building brand awareness, I'd probably get killed" Unless you're part of a mature organisation and you have a large marketing team, the reality is you're going to have to both build the brand, AND make sure that you can tie certain efforts to revenue It's not necessarily about tying specific activities, but your efforts as a whole to revenue

Demand Gen is NOT: + SEO + a podcast + Google Ads + LinkedIn Ads + Social posts These are just methods and tactics to get your message in front of people - i.e. distribution Without a cohesive plan behind them.... ... they're just 'random acts of marketing' --- i.e. 'busy-ness' instead of 'busi-ness' --- So, what is Demand Gen then? --- Demand Gen is a go-to-market strategy that builds a desire to get your Dream Customers to purchase from you over the competition To do this, Your Demand Gen strategy SHOULD: 1. Identify the segment you are targeting (based off your 'best' customers) 2. Deeply understand them, their pains and JTBD 3. Have your brand positioned to help them so it seems like a 'no brainer' AND 4. Have a system to build trust between your brand and Dream Customers 5. Lead them to the obvious conclusion that the problem you solve is WORTH solving, and your way is the BEST way to do it -------- Then you consider how to best get this message in front of people (podcast, SEO, social etc.) P.S.
