What do you think makes a ‘good builder’? Is it quality craftsmanship, clear communication, or perhaps their ability to deliver on time and within budget? We recently explored this topic with insights from Duayne Pearce, Peter Nastrom, and Dan Urquhart, leaders in the construction industry who know what it takes to stand out. Here’s what they had to say & we would love to hear your thoughts below 👇🏼 #TheGoodBuilder #construction #builder #buildernews #homebuilding

Builders in Queensland have defied the doomsdayers and recorded strong growth in the first half of the financial year. Australian Construction Data’s The Top 25 Queensland Building Half Time Report shows Metricon at the top of the table with 751 builds underway – and on track to more than double its output for the full financial year. We caught up with Metricon CEO Brad Duggan and Brighton Homes CEO Brad Collins to talk about the outlook for the rest of the year. #homebuilding #homebuilders #qldconstruction #constructionoutlook #buildernews #TheGoodBuilder #Metricon #BrightonHomes #Sunday #SundayRead

Is it time for home builders to embrace live chat on their websites 🤷🏻♂️ For me and us here at The Good Builder, providing exceptional service is one of the secret ingredients to standing out in the home-building industry. But in a world where potential clients are researching online more than ever, and at most times in the first instance when looking for a builder...are you truly servicing your customers when they visit your website? Over the course of my career and ventures, I’ve been helping builders grow and this simple tool is a bit of a lead gen game-changer, without changing much else. Best yet, without an exorbitant spend. On average, we’ve seen builders increase their leads by 30% after rolling it out. Why? Because live chat turns your website into a virtual display home. Think about it—if someone walked into your physical display home, you’d greet them, chat about their needs, and build a connection. Live chat does the same thing but in the digital space, where so many decisions are made. Here’s what we’ve seen as the biggest benefits for builders: 🎯 Providing a better service than your competitors – Not every builder is doing this, which gives you an edge. 🎯 Actually servicing your website visitors – Every inquiry is an opportunity, and live chat ensures you don’t let potential clients walk away without a conversation. 🎯 Better qualifying your leads – Live chat allows you to ask the right questions upfront so you know which clients are ready to build. 🎯 Promoting your USP – Whether it’s your design flexibility, customer care, or unbeatable value, live chat lets you bring that to life in real-time. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are definitely arguments out there for and against it, with some finding it annoying, but at the end of the day, I’m just sharing the love to help builders thrive and sharing the insights I've seen first-hand out in the field. If you’re curious about how live chat could work for your website or want some tips on getting started, I'd also have a good chat to Gavin S. - I've been working with him for about a decade and a wealth of knowledge in the lead gen space for builders. We're excited to feature his insights on our platform too 💪🏽 Hope this helps someone out there and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions! Carpe Diem ❤️ #CustomerService #LeadGeneration #MarketingInsights #TheGoodBuilder #ConstructionMarketing

🗞️ TGB News Update 🗞️ 𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐃 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐕𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. AVJennings, one of Australia’s oldest and most recognisable home builders, is poised to be taken private following a $374 million buyout offer from Proprium Capital Partners, the owners of AVID Property Group. The offer, at 67 cents per share, is almost double the AVJennings share price before the announcement. AVJennings controls approximately 9,871 lots along the east coast of Australia and NZ, and their acquisition will see AVID more than double its footprint in the undersupplied residential housing market and land lease sectors. The proposed acquisition will bring AVJennings into Propium’s portfolio, which has over $4b under management internationally. AVID Property Group CEO Cameron Holt highlighted the strategic alignment between the two entities. “AVJennings’ existing portfolio and its pipeline of residential communities in Australia and New Zealand are complementary to AVID’s portfolio and growth strategy, and will add further depth to our high-quality product offering for a broad range of customers if the acquisition eventuates,” Mr. Holt said. The offer is subject to shareholder approval, due diligence, and regulatory clearances from Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board and New Zealand’s Overseas Investment Office. Should the deal proceed, AVJennings shareholders will also receive a special dividend of up to six cents per share in franking credits, adding further value to the proposal. 𝐀𝐕 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 The AV Jennings Board, led by Chairman Simon Cheong, has expressed unanimous support for the proposal, stating that the offer provides a strong opportunity for shareholders to realize value above historical trading levels. Mr. Cheong emphasized the importance of the deal amid challenging conditions in the residential property market.“ This proposal reflects extensive negotiations with AVID and offers shareholders a compelling opportunity to unlock value,” Mr. Cheong said at the company’s Annual General Meeting. The board has signed an exclusivity agreement with AVID, preventing discussions with other potential bidders until January 31, 2025, unless a superior proposal emerges. -- 𝐓𝐆𝐁 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 If you own the land, you control the build. Between Villa World and AV Jennings, the Avid Property Group has the opportunity to become one of the countries largest builders in its own right. This is a significant acquisition for AVID / Propium, and will see them further cement their position as one of the top 5 players in our housing sector after their acquisition of 8 Living Gems communities in May this year, VillaWorld in 2019, following their rebrand from Investa Land in 2016. From AVJennings perspective, it would appear to be an attractive deal for shareholders, after a tough 12 months where net profit was down 95%.

With things ramping up here at The Good Builder, with our official website launch just around the corner, we took to the streets to press the flesh this week. A BIG thanks once again to UDIA Queensland for a great Lay of the Land event, Vicki and Wojtek for your time and insights into bringing your respective building brands to market, and the crew at Bennett + Bennett for the chat around how an industry leader for surveying, town planning, urban design, spatial, and major infrastructure projects uses data.
