About us
The Queensland office of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) was established in 1971. Since then we have become the State’s largest network of community creators. For 50 years we have been an integral part of Queensland’s property development industry. Over the years we have recognised the local differences that require on the ground industry representation. Responding to this important requirement, we have grown to represent all regions through our branch structure and become the peak body for the development industry.

The Institute's CEO, Kirsty Chessher-Brown stood with Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie welcoming the Government's announcement pausing the use of Best Practice Industry Conditions (BPIC) on new Government-funded construction projects in a measure to boost productivity. Pausing of BPIC on new projects follows 12 months of Institute advocacy, alongside other peak bodies, on the significant challenges currently facing the apartment market, including declining productivity and high construction costs. With the Queensland housing crisis already severe, we need all levels of government to act now. Property Council of Australia Queensland
