Natural resource management (NRM) investment prioritisation need not be a whole new and frantic adventure every time a new grant opportunity is announced. There are a finite range of on-ground NRM actions that we can do and there is a common range of things that we care about (outcomes). The trick is implementing a prioritisation approach that allows portfolios of potential actions to be recast based on the priority outcomes for each new funding opportunity. Want to learn more? How do you deal with unknown unknowns in environmental modelling? When asked to represent error, we leap to quantifying different aspects of data error and proudly proclaim a 95% confidence interval. However, this neglects epistemic error – the Rumsfeldian unknown unknowns. When we are modelling pure physical processes, this may not matter too much as the science is quite mature. But predicting biological outcomes, or social outcomes is fraught with epistemic error because the science of causal response is not as well developed. By ignoring epistemic error we ignore the limitations in our process and system interaction understanding. Interested in learning more? Project developers — To demonstrate the impacts of their nature-positive projects to investors. ✨ What it’s for ✨ Natural Capital Project allows users to quantify and report the likely impacts of individual, nature-positive, on-ground projects across Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) and Productivity indicators.
