The Victorian Government is working alongside industry and the public to develop a new strategy to improve the sustainability and profitability of Victoria’s prestigious wine industry. The Victorian Wine Strategy – preliminary design document is now open for public consultation through Engage Victoria until the end of January 2025. The strategy is an opportunity for industry and government to collaborate and set new directions for the industry, which has experienced major changes in recent years. Led by Agriculture Victoria along-side a steering committee made up of key industry representatives including Wine Victoria, the strategy has been informed by extensive industry engagement throughout 2024. The final strategy expected to be released in the first half of 2025. The strategy has 6 key priorities: trade, innovation, visitor economy, people, sustainability and leadership. The wine industry is an important component of Victoria’s visitor economy, and the strategy outlines actions to increase the quality of wine tourism through closer collaboration with visitor economy organisations.
