Thank you Lisa Munday for the invitation to the lunch with Cainbet Ministers in Dawesville today. It was great to network with local stakeholders about the work of Wanslea in the community. I also appreciated the golden opportunity to get a few moments with key Ministers to talk about our joint advocacy alongside Grandcarers WA for grandparents carers #fairerfuture

🎁 A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Tiny Nannas Quilters of Mandurah! At their recent AGM, they generously donated around 100 beautiful gifts to Wanslea’s Foster and Grandcare programs. Jen and Mary from our Grandcare team, accepted the gifts and shared how these treasures will bring joy and support to children. The quilters’ generosity didn't end there; they also raised $1,673 through a raffle! 🎉 These donations, along with contributions from Horizon Power, will make a big impact at our combined Foster Care and Grandcare Christmas Party coming up this November! #CommunitySupport #Gratitude #Wanslea #MakingADifference #Grandcare

Strengthening Support for Grandcarers: Key Ask 4 of 4 🧡👵👴 Wanslea and Grandcarers WA are advocating for a dedicated worker within the Department of Communities to consult with case workers on the specific needs of Grandcarers. This role would ensure that Grandcarers receive the right guidance and support, helping them navigate complex systems and access vital resources. Grandcarers often face unique challenges, and having someone dedicated to their cause will make a world of difference. This is the fourth and final key ask in our campaign, as we continue to push for real change that improves the lives of Grandcarers and their grandchildren across WA. Help us create a brighter future for these families by sharing this post and raising awareness of their needs. Together, we can make a difference. 📣💪 #FairerFuture #SupportGrandcarers #KeyAsk4 #GrandcarersWA #Wanslea

✨ Wanslea on CurtinFM Afternoon-Show: Grandcarers Advocacy Campaign ✨ We’re thrilled to share that our CEO, Jo Sadler, and Dianne Franklyn, Vice President of Grandcarers WA and a Grandcarer herself, joined Jamie Mercanti on CurtinFM to spotlight the critical challenges faced by Grandcarers. 💬 The conversation shined a light on the systemic injustices impacting Grandcarers and the essential role they play in raising their grandchildren. 1. Increase the Grandcare Support Scheme (GSS) payment to better support the cost of raising children. 2. New $650k funding per year for case management services to assist Grandcarers facing complex issues. 3. Appoint a dedicated worker within the Department of Communities to address Grandcarers' needs. 4. Boost base funding for the Grandcare program by $500k annually to meet rising demand. It’s time for immediate action—Grandcarers deserve fairer treatment and the right level of support to care for their grandchildren without unnecessary hardship. Together with Grandcarers WA, Wanslea is committed to ensuring #FairerFutureForGrandchildren.
