Meet Tim. Tim, is our head-down-and-get-the-job-done apprentice who has followed dad’s footsteps taking on a career in the automotive industry. Today we celebrate Tim for being awarded winner of the High Achieving Student Award in the 2024 South West TAFE Trades Awards. Tim, your hard work and perseverance have paid off and we are very proud of you. This is a well-deserved achievement and we are fortunate to have such talented individuals in our team.
When working within transport and the community, you're likely to encounter some difficult situations. Last week our driver team received de-escalation training aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills to manage and defuse challenging situations. A big thank you to Preferred Training Networks for facilitating these workshops for our crew.
We are proud to support our travelling community as we continue to rollout the "tap-to-travel" ticketing solution on our Transit South West and Warrnambool Town School Special services. In collaboration with industry pioneers, #tikpay and #transportme these services will offer passengers flexibility and convenience through driver assisted or unassisted ticket purchases ensuring they're charged the best fare for the day. Whilst traditional ticket purchases from drivers using a payment card or cash continues to be supported, unassisted card payments are now also available. This enables travellers (including concession card holders) to pay for transport without driver interaction using their Visa and Mastercard cards, digital wallets, smartphones or smartwatches. Watch this space!

The Warrnambool Line has some of the most picturesque scenery on the V/Line network. And soon passengers will be able to enjoy the view from the comfort of a modern VLocity train. Our crews have been hard at work, making their way along more than 150-kilometres of track to replace more than 70,000 sleepers. This work, along with the final level crossing upgrades underway as part of Stage 2 of the Warrnambool Line Upgrade, will help enable reliable VLocity trains to run to and from Warrnambool for the first time. Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to this exciting milestone.

What a privilege to be part of this insightful discussion. Thank you Nikki Britt, Ian MacDonald and the Bus Industry Confederation for leading the conversation and have industry, “Riding on the same bus.”
It was wonderful to be a part of Bus Industry Confederation & APTIA's National Industrial Relations Seminar 2024 for the Recruitment & Retention Project Launch and seeing how aligned everyone in the industry is with "Riding on the Same Bus" - a great Policy Manifesto and Workplace Toolkit developed by Nikki Britt . Thanks David Mead, Lyndal Jansen van Vuuren, Jacqui Luck & David Babineau for a great panel session and bringing some of the ways we can positively influence the industry to light.

Buses carry the most precious cargo of all - your family members, friends and loved ones. Whether you’re a motorist, bus driver, passenger or pedestrian, all road users need space to keep bus journeys safe. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s ‘We All Need Space’ campaign highlights the importance of following road rules around buses to keep passengers and other road users safe: • Give Way to merging buses - it's the law • Make sure you give buses more space when you overtake • Leave two lanes for turning buses.
