WASH-Ed is delighted to have a longstanding partnership with the University of Technology Sydney and its University Innovation Fellows (UIF) Program. Together, we aim to empower students to become change agents in higher education by employing innovative strategies to address pressing social issues. We are thrilled to collaborate with both emerging and current talent from UTS to create digital content that will enhance WASH education for schools within our networks in 2025. www.wash-ed.org
The UTS University Innovation Fellows (UIF), part of the program created by Stanford University Institute of Design / d.school, empowers students to become agents of change in higher education. It has been an amazing journey since 2017 and a Stanford visit in 2023. We would like to thank UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT for sponsorship; and our community partners - WASH-Ed, EndPlasticSoup Rotary Clubs, ERM, The Centre for Volunteering, Rotary International, UTS Startups and Flora dynamics for their engagement and showcasing how students can contribute through social projects. Special thank you to Dr Mehal Krayem from UTS Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion for keynote presentation and Irene Hsieh, Melanie 🐟 Lewis, Harry Kellick and Gurvinder Bhatia for sharing UIF experiences, continuing to motivate other students to embark on UIF journey. I would also like to thank Jason Do and Sarah Rodriguez for their help. Congratulations to Noussayba Skendri, Sophie Vo, Talia Ku, Naman Ganjekar for receiving their UIF pins/badges in the pinning ceremony, presented by Eva C.. #uifellows #socialentrepreneurship #Collaboration

Exciting news from the PSSE Annual National Convention 2024! 🌏💧 WASH-Ed's Ira Joshua Manuel and Grace Devon Gevero, our Water and Health Sector Leads, are at the forefront of National Discussions on how sanitary engineers are pivotal in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our Co-Founders shared how their expertise and collaboration with the education sector enabled WASH-Ed to successfully craft and implement its evidence-based learning curricula in driving sustainable urban development, clean water, and sanitation—key components of the SDGs. Josh was especially recognised for his role as Resource Speaker, captivating the audience on his journey from a student grappling with social anxiety to becoming a leader in the WASH sector. His story of overcoming challenges and embracing vulnerability to drive positive change is a testament to the transformative power of water leadership to create a sustainable future.
