We are very excited to announce HM Air have partnered with White Star Aviation for the delivery of a cadet pilot program to provide them with industry-ready pilots who are already proficient in company SOPs, trained specifically for top-end operations. The cadets will complete a 250 hour training course for their CPL and IR-MEA with the commercial navigation flights completed in HM aircraft on their charter routes utilizing scenario based training to ensure they are genuinely line ready. Successful graduates are then offered 18 months employment with HM Air on their C210 and B58 aircraft. Watch the trailer below for more information:

The Torres Strait Air Cadet Pilot Program provides graduates with a soaring start to their flying careers!

A new breed of commercial pilot is in town, and the numbers are growing! Five years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Carola Woods - a singer, songwriter, and incredible performer. Carola became my voice and singing coach and is now a dear friend. While learning to expand my vocal range, I talked (and sang) passionately about my love for flying. I didn't know it then, but I was planting a blossoming seed. Fast-forward to the present, and meet Carola, a commercial pilot who recently earned her multi-engine command instrument rating with White Star Aviation Pty Ltd, based at Armidale Regional Airport. She's a powerhouse woman who loves discipline and is entirely dedicated to her new aviation career, so much so that she has just commenced her first full-time role as a commercial pilot based in Cairns, where she is working hard and already kicking goals. The narrative in the aviation industry is undergoing significant changes in many ways, and I'm thrilled to witness and be part of this transformation. There are many women out there who reflect this change. Together, as we advance through the industry, we will continue to showcase our achievements and progress, inspire and encourage others to pursue what is possible - possible with dedication, hard work, and ability—and, more importantly, shape an industry that embraces women who offer a level of quality like no other. This week was a huge week for our Torres Strait Air cadet pilots as their CPL journey came to an end with the culmination of their hard work on display during their CPL flight tests off Horn Island. These three students are our fourth cohort of cadets for TSA and they now return to White Star Aviation to complete their IR-MEA before they begin their careers in the Torres Strait in late August. This bespoke cadet program delivers up to 24 cadets every 18 months to TSA and affords the pilots rapid progression from the C206 to BN2 and on average 700-800 hours in the first 12 months of employment! White Star Aviation and FlyLink are joining forces to offer all 2024 FlyLink FIR Graduates a guaranteed interview and the opportunity for employment across our three campuses in Ballina, Armidale, and Archerfield. With a fleet of seventeen aircraft✈️ including 💎Diamonds, Cessnas, and Pipers, and boasting two highly experienced Heads of Operations who lead, standardise and develop our instructing team to ensure the highest of training standards are maintained. This partnership aims to see the majority, if not all of its graduates employed upon graduation.

Torres Strait Air is a locally owned air charter company serving the vital air transport needs of the Torres Strait community with a well-resourced and experienced team of air charter professionals. Boasting a current fleet of fourteen aircraft, supported by highly experienced maintenance and operational personnel on Horn Island, Cairns and Brisbane, they have set new standards of service and safety for flying in the Torres Strait. This unique cadet program sees students completing the last module of training for their Commercial Pilot Licence on Horn Island in Torres Strait Air’s Cessna 206 aircraft, flying company routes utilising scenario based training to ensure they are not only qualified but are genuinely industry ready. Upon completion of the course students are offered up to 18 months employment with Torres Strait Air.
