Harness the Power of Systematic Methodologies in USB Drive Forensic Investigation: Strategic Frameworks and Approaches. DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.21638.34883 Abstract: In the intricate dance of bits and bytes, it is forensic science that illuminates the shadows, revealing truths hidden in the digital realm. Method used in this paper was a conceptual business called APT Finance P/L, which was a finance enterprise based in Victoria, Australia (Conceptual). APT Finance P/L, a mid-tier financial services enterprise which had recently engaged in a corporate merger with Dubbo Finance Partners, headquartered in Wagga Wagga. During the conduct of a preceding investigation, company-owned computing equipment, specifically a USB flash drive was requisitioned. The scope of this forensic analysis was confined to the USB Drive, which was methodically examined. The paper provides an in-depth analysis of current forensic practices, highlighting the imperative need for adapting to the particulars of the digital landscape, including the challenges of decrypting data and navigating legal and ethical considerations focused on the requisitioned USB Drive. Integrating the timely forensic principles with emerging digital technologies, the article advocates for a balanced, multidisciplinary approach to conducting effective and ethically sound investigations those are admissible in the court of law. It highlights the necessity for forensic investigators to develop adaptive strategies in response to the dynamically evolving digital threats. The report is organized into three concise sections: Section I outlines legal frameworks and potential risks, Section II reviews forensic tools and methodologies used in the investigation, and Section III presents forensic findings and legal recommendations. Additionally, remediation strategies embedded aims to strengthen overall security, reducing the risk of future cyber-attacks and data breaches.
