The Role
We’re excited to welcome an Assistant Accountant to our close-knit team, based in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a growing business as we navigate an exciting period of transformation!
As the business embarks on a growth phase through acquisition, you’ll play a pivotal role in financial reporting and act as a vital link between teams. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and our overseas counterparts, you’ll streamline reporting processes, prepare and clean data ready for transition and support the seamless integration of new systems. This dynamic and impactful responsibility offers a unique opportunity to enhance your expertise while contributing to a transformative milestone in our company’s journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyse, and reconcile financial reports to support key business decisions.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Tax and compliance assistance - supporting the preparation of BAS, FBT and other tax obligations.
- Support the acquisition process by assisting with system integration, liaising with international counterparts, and ensuring reporting alignment.
- Analysing financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with the broader team to manage daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, as needed.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
About You
You’re an experienced and adaptable accounting professional with a strong focus on accuracy and a proactive approach to your work. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy contributing to a variety of tasks. With a strong background in reporting and expertise in Oracle, you’ll hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.
Skills And Experience Required
- Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in a similar role, with a focus on financial reporting and reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Oracle software is a must.
- Advanced Excel skills (Macro knowledge a plus!)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with local and international stakeholders.
- A flexible, can-do attitude, willing to take on a variety of tasks as needed.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA qualification or progress toward it is highly regarded).
