As a small but quickly growing business, we are scaling into a medium-sized operation, and we're looking for an experienced and driven Accountant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our growth while shaping the future of our financial operation.


About the role

As the Accountant, you will report directly to the CFO to manage and grow our financial team. This is a hands-on role that will allow you to take full ownership of the operational financial management of the company. This is a full-time in-house position, with initial support from the outgoing bookkeeper during the handover process.

You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that will keep you engaged and challenged, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, month-end processing, and bank reconciliations. The role offers the opportunity to improve and refine financial policies and processes, ensuring we are set up for continued success as the company expands.

Your responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable – Review and record invoices, schedule and process payments

Accounts Receivable – Create and issue sales invoices, monitor overdue payments, and follow up with customers

Ledgers – Maintain company ledgers, including intercompany transactions

Payroll – Manage payroll activities, including salary payments, superannuation, workcover, and payroll tax lodgements

Month-End Processing – Assist with reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers

Bank Reconciliations – Perform regular bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and manage foreign currency transactions

Documentation – Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of financial data for auditing purposes

Financial Policies – Review and improve financial policies, processes, and supporting documentation


About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience as an Accountant with a strong understanding of company financial processes
  • Experience in managing a broad range of accounting functions
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to improve and streamline financial processes and systems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Experience in using accounting software. We currently use a mix of software applications including Microsoft Office suite, coupled with our accounting package being Dynamics 365, and payroll in Employment Hero..
