Graduate Accountant

DFK Nugents Pty Ltd is an Accounting and Business Advisory Firm located in Southbank, Victoria.

Our association with DFK provides our clients with national connections to assist in growing and managing their businesses worldwide.

Each year, we welcome students in their final year of studies or recent graduates to join our firm as part of our Graduate Training Programme. This training is further enhanced through our National Training Programme, known as the People Development Plan, in collaboration with other DFK ANZ offices across Australia and New Zealand. This programme supports the careers of junior accountants within a national cohort of undergraduates and graduates, offering formal and informal training, as well as conferences held across Australia. The goal is to help build skill sets, networks, and camaraderie.

The People Development Plan is designed to provide a strong foundation of learning as you embark on your professional journey. This personal pathway to development and growth is a collaborative effort among DFK ANZ firms. We recognise the importance of relationships, so the learning within this cohort is integral to your development—not only from a technical perspective but also in fostering strong working relationships.

The firm deals predominantly with business advice to high-net-worth family groups, involving taxation management, planning and compliance, in addition to broader business planning and growth strategies. Strong focus is placed on the key areas of Management Accounting for business development and prudent Taxation management.

Accountants will be involved in but not limited to the following duties and projects as an introduction to the organisation and profession:

• Preparation of a variety of Income Tax Returns for differing types of entities;
• Preparation of GST returns and analysis of Business Activity Statements for clients; and
• Assistance in the preparation of Annual Financial Accounts for Compliance purposes.

The firm provides a strong level of practical training, enabling the successful candidate to benefit from the program of in house and external training that allows a comprehensive career plan to be mapped out.

We also offer a flexible working arrangements, an early finish on Friday’s and a super friendly team who are professional but also love to socialise!

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following attributes:

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
• Ability and eagerness to learn;
• Ability to work as part of a team; and
• Experience within a public accounting firm (desirable).
