The role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to oversee and enhance our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, with experience in a trading firm and a keen interest in cryptocurrency. In this role, you will manage a Junior Accountant and collaborate closely with the Trading team on a daily basis. As a key member of the Zerocap Finance team, you will play a vital role in supporting the business through its current period of growth and expansion.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with Australian accounting standards.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including the preparation of monthly reconciliations for banking, FX, and liquidity accounts.
• Lead month-end close processes and maintain the general ledger for accuracy and completion.
• Monitor wallets and digital asset balances with Treasury and Trading teams.
• Lead the monthly cadence of reporting to support trading operations.
• Manage accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and cryptocurrency accounting.
• Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements across all entities (e.g., BAS, IAS).
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and external audits.
• Drive process improvements, automation and internal controls.

What We’re Looking For:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CA preferred).
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in trading or cryptocurrency environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax regulations, and advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software, BI tools for dashboards, and basic SQL for reporting.
• Experience with system integrations, automation, and start-up/scale-up environments.
• Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a track record of delivering quality outcomes under deadlines.
• A genuine interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and trading.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to execute and drive results.
