GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Technical Manager will be a member of OW, within the Technical Department in Australia. He or she will be responsible of coordination and supervision of all technical activities during development phase of the OW pipeline in Australia. Will work closely in collaboration with other technical, commercial, legal and business areas.


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for drafting the technical strategy / roadmap of the projects in Australia.
  • Coordinate and supervise all related technical activities during development phase: concept engineering, site characterization activities, grid connection studies, discussions with supply chain, etc…in accordance with applicable standards, legislation, ethics, and good practices across the offshore wind farms industry, tender requirements, regulatory aspects, and project policies.
  • Provide technical support, finding the best suitable technical strategy for each project in Australia.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork with the OW Engineering Corporate, OW Australia and other departments, facilitating the efficiency in works related to the Projects and alignment with OW practices.


RESPONSABILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Follow up status on the onshore and offshore interconnection permitting and works for Australian’s projects
  • Follow up status of the appropriate assessment, environmental impact analysis and permitting done by the Government of the zones where OW has interest in Australia
  • Provide overview and summarize the legislation being set up (or future updates) for the tendering procedures in Australia and posterior development of the projects.
  • Support and prepare summaries on the main local specificities for consultation with OW headquarter.
  • Identify synergies with other technologies or projects in Australia and seek local innovations to get/have strategic advances in the upcoming bidding processes.
  • Participate in local sector meetings, congresses, fairs, workshops.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting of the existing Australian projects to Headquarter OW.
  • Collaboration with Headquarter OW for specific technical acquired expertise in Offshore wind Australia.
  • Accountable of the Technical strategy definition for the different packages for the Australian’s projects and tenders, in collaboration with other Technical Areas as required.
  • Perform high level analysis of project planning for the EPCI activities, from development until COD.
  • Collaborate with Corporate EPCI Team on developing required documentation for technical RFI/RFP as: Employer’s Design Requirements Technical Specifications, Project Procedures, Scope of Works, Bill of Quantities, Responsibility Matrix, Consents requirements, Physical Interface Registers (PIR), etc… For the Technical packages within Australia´s OW projects.
  • In collaboration with Corporate EPCI Team, providing support during RFP process: Answer Q&A, participate in clarification meetings with Bidders, perform technical evaluations, provide technical recommendations for shortlist and preferred bidder, potential optimizations identification, Technical discussions, support other departments in discussions with Bidders, etc…
  • Ensure required HSSE measures are implemented in all activities at the early development phase of the Projects through direct communication with HSE Corporate Department.
  • Assure quality of work performed through peer reviews and monitoring throughout the project cycle and provide recommendations to the Project Teams where required.
  • Ensure Lessons Learnt are captured and transferred across all Australian’s Projects with the support from corporate team.
  • Be up to date on new techniques, technologies and solutions developed by the supply chain. Keep close relationship/interface communications with main players on the industry (fabricators, marine contractors, vessel suppliers, ports administrations, etc…) to share knowledge and topics related to Offshore Wind Industry in Australia.


ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Internationally recognised Engineering or Science Degree in an Offshore Wind relevant discipline.


LANGUAGES

Fluent in English. Ability to read, write and speak other languages will be a plus.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

5+ years of offshore wind experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Location in Melbourne, Australia. Travelling to supplier's facilities and offices, local construction ports and construction sites may be required.
