We are seeking a talented individual to join our Underwriting team at Victor Insurance. This role will be based in the Sydney or Melbourne office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As an Underwriter SME, you will underwrite business in accordance with the Victor Insurance business plan, adhering to set underwriting rules and service standards while operating within your designated underwriting authority.

We will count on you to:

  • Achieve underwriting results and growth through new business and renewals in accordance with plan and budget.
  • Determine the acceptability, conditions, and pricing of routine moderate to complex insurance risks, agreeing on coverage within business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, underwriting acceptance levels, systems, and guidelines.
  • Identify new business opportunities within underwriting appetite and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines at all times.
  • Assist the Senior Underwriter with the renewal process, endorsements, and new business quotations within authority.
  • Build and develop relationships with brokers and Capital Providers/Insurers, delivering first-rate service while managing interactions professionally.

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in underwriting multi or single line commercial business and domestic products.
  • Broad insurance industry knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Previous experience with Sunrise / Underwriting System is favourable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver results on time and in full.
