Thank you Prof Yanping Yuan and Dr Xiaowen SU (Mech.Eng. @ Southwest Jiaotong University) for hosting my return visit to Chengdu, capital of China's Szechuan Province. 9 thru 16 November witnessed a "great leap forward" in our understanding of non-steady-state thermal comfort, and it was very gratifying to see our collaboration already bearing fruit with the publication of our paper on transitional spaces of a high-speed railway station building appearing in Building & Environment. During my visit I also had the pleasure of delivering a special lecture on overheating of bedrooms and living rooms. The field evidence (IEQ Lab - University of Sydney) clearly highlights the disconnect between CIBSE TM59 overheating guidelines and the lived reality in Australian homes.
