Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and is known as the “Crossroads of the Orient.” It is a typical coastal city of Southeast Asia, with a charming seaside landscape and towering skyscrapers, as well as resplendent temple halls. The romantic and leisurely atmosphere gives Colombo its special enchanting character. Colombo's National Museum and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall are both symbolic locations worth visiting. SMALL CAFÉ BY THE CORNER.
We recently visited this place drawn by its cozy ambiance and stylish decor, which made it a great spot to relax. However, the cookie cake I ordered was a huge disappointment—tiny, rock hard, and incredibly dry. It was so tough, they might as well have served it with a hammer instead of a fork. For the high price, I expected much better quality.
While the ambiance is lovely, I’d recommend sticking to the coffee and skipping the desserts.

LOVELY & COZY CAFÉ.
We visited Peppermint Cafe some time ago, and although I can't recall the exact date, recently coming across photos in my gallery brought back all the great memories of my meal there.
I remember the taste so vividly that I felt compelled to finally give them the review they deserve.
The food was nothing short of exceptional. I had a fantastic meal, including crispy, perfectly seasoned fries topped with tender fried chicken, and their delicious, generously sized burger. Each dish was so flavorful that it’s stayed with me long after my visit.
The balance of textures and flavors was spot-on, and the presentation made the dishes even more enticing. The drinks were also memorable.
I tried their mojitos and a refreshing lime cooler – both were exactly what I needed to accompany the rich food. Everything was prepared with such care, and you could tell that only high-quality ingredients were used.Although it’s been a while, I still remember the friendly and welcoming staff who made the experience even more enjoyable.
DINING @ NUGA GAMA.
During my recent stay at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, I was truly impressed. The location by the Beira Lake provides such a peaceful setting right in the heart of the city, perfect for unwinding. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The lake view from my window was a bonus.
I also enjoyed the dining options; the breakfast spread was extensive with a variety of both local and international dishes. The pool area is a real highlight – it’s large and beautifully maintained, ideal for relaxation. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and attended to, from check-in to check-out.
The only slight downside was that some services felt a bit pricey, but overall, I’d say the quality and experience were well worth it. I’d hi Cinnamon Lakeside to anyone visiting Colombo.:

THE PLACE TO VISIT FOR GOOD BREAKFAST.
While walking around, we discovered this awesome cafe. It is situated on the back yard of book shop. There was a holiday (Poya day) when we came but they were opened. It wasn't packed but also it wasn't deserted so I found atmosphere pretty comfortable.
They have approximately 10 tables and some of them are placed in cosy patio. Cafe provieds self-service. It means you shoud come to casher and place order then waiter bring it for you.
They don't include service charge 10% on your bill. Menu is quite wide. You can find organic, vegeterian and sugar-free meal there. I fell in love with their passion fruit pie.

LOVELY CAFÉ.
The food is tasty and well-prepared. I tried the Oreo shake and KitKat shake; they are absolutely good and worth it.
I've tried different shops for these shakes, but none of them are as good.
The only downside is that this place is too hot with no air conditioning.

Colombo|The little train from Spirited Away
When traveling to Sri Lanka, you definitely won't want to miss this seaside train that looks just like the one from Spirited Away~ It is said to be the prototype.
We arrived at a very old and shabby station and bought very cheap tickets that cost around three to four yuan (the only thing we could understand was the Arabic numerals 😂).
We waited on the platform for about twenty minutes, and then the train arrived. The carriage was very spacious, with locals sitting in small groups either chatting leisurely or casting friendly glances at us tourists. There was no ticket inspection at the station, the doors were open, and you could get on and off freely.
Although it's called the 'seaside train,' it actually runs along the coast of the Indian Ocean. The train ride doesn't offer a full view of the ocean the entire time, and you shouldn't expect to see scenes like those in the animation. Most of the time, you'll see simple houses built by the residents along the coast... The scenery gets prettier as you approach the final stop, Colombo.
In short, this little train ride is a nice experience, but you should lower your expectations and not compare it to the manga. Just enjoy the local atmosphere 😁.
