Guimen Genglou and Lumen Academy

Located 35 kilometers southwest of Shengzhou City is Guimen Mountain. Guimen Mountain was originally called Lumen Mountain, but it was renamed Guimen after Zhu Xi inscribed the two characters 'Guimen' here. The architecture of Guimen Genglou can be divided into two parts, the east is Genglou and the west is Lumen Academy. The academy was founded by the Southern Song scholar Lv Guishu, and the famous Neo-Confucian scholar Zhu Xi once lectured here. The word 'Guimen' inscribed by Zhu Xi is engraved on the north gate. Genglou was built by Lv Guishu's son, Lv Zu_. The existing building was rebuilt in the third year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1798). Nearby there are also inscriptions from Meishu, which were inscribed by Zhu Xi when he visited Lv Guishu. It is a city-level cultural relics protection unit. To enter Genglou, you can go up from the south of the mountain. This is a two-story, four-sided building facing north to south. The lower level is a stone base with a patio in the middle. There are arched doors on the north and south sides, which were the passageways for pedestrians in the past. The south gate is 'Ancient Lumen', and the word 'Guimen' is inscribed on the north gate. The characters are as big as a fight, written by Zhu Xi. Later, the calligrapher Zhao Ruirong from Wudong also inscribed the two titles 'Ge Chen' and 'Gui Yun' on the north side of the two holes in the south and north. The upper floor rooms face each other on all four sides, connected by corridors. When you climb the tower and look north, a dam locks Pinghu, and the green mountains and clear water reflect each other, and the scenery of Nanshan Lake is all in sight.
