How to get the there? Well, is the most difficult area to get of the entire Nature Reserve. First get the shuttle bus from Yading Village to Luorong Pasture, than hike up 4h (time depends on your strength). The hike is not easy and is not for everyone but once you arrive at the top the scenery is amazing!

Nestled in remote western Sichuan, Yading nature reserve is known for its holy, snow-capped mountains. To get there you either fly into Daocheng airport (the highest airport in the world at just over 4000m) or take your time exploring western Sichuan by bus before arriving at your final destination of Yading. I would suggest coming by bus as you are at risk of getting altitude sickness otherwise. Once in Daocheng, catch a local bus to the nature reserve, and stay at the hotels inside to maximize your time exploring. After checking in mid-morning, we spent our first day exploring the shorter walk to Pearl Lake. The second day we rose early and made the trek to Milk Lake and Five Color Lake. Even though it was a foggy summer, the views were still gorgeous and the people were aplenty. Bring food as there is nothing available inside (not even hot water so don’t bring noodles). We went to Yading scenic area around end of Nov. It’s warmer than we expected and it’s the start of low season that entrance to the park was free. Less tourists, good weather and free entrance make such a great timing to visit the magnificent site. The park is home to three mountains considered holy by Tibetan. Tourists can hike up to over 4,000m to see the two high-altitude lakes. The trail itself is nicely paved but because of the high altitude, we have to walk very slow.
