Although they are all imitations, the layout is reasonable, the environment is comfortable, the content is rich, and technology and modernity are well applied to the exhibition, and the interactivity is very strong, which is very suitable for bringing children to understand China's splendid treasures and related history, a very good experience. Dunhuang Art Museum: A perfect replacement for Mogao Grottoes! Awesome!
Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes are so popular now. There are so many tourists that it is very difficult to make an appointment. If you are really interested in the colorful sculptures and murals of Mogao Grottoes, you might as well go to the Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou.
In fact, no matter whether you will go to the Mogao Grottoes or not, it is recommended to go to the Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou before going to Dunhuang to have a preliminary understanding of Dunhuang art.
I visited the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang more than ten years ago. Now I go to the Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou. I personally feel that the experience of visiting the Dunhuang Art Museum is better than actually going to the Mogao Grottoes.
1. The light is more suitable for appreciating mural art. The Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou is affiliated to the Dunhuang Academy. The museum displays murals from famous grottoes such as Mogao Grottoes and Yulin Grottoes. Most of the murals have been restored to a one-to-one ratio. The lighting in the exhibition hall is harmonious, which is more suitable for visiting than the real Mogao Grottoes. You can appreciate it carefully.
2. There are a large number of murals and colorful sculptures on display and a rich variety. Most of the murals and painted sculptures displayed in the Dunhuang Art Museum are basically restored one to one, and the production is very realistic. Some of the grottoes are even truly restored, making it very immersive.
3. The art museum has a very detailed explanation of the grotto art and the production process of mural sculptures. You can learn a lot of professional knowledge during the visit, which is more than going to Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes for a casual look.
4. The Dunhuang Art Museum is currently open for free, and no reservation is required. You can just go in and visit. You can take photos of all exhibition halls and displayed artworks.
5. At present, only some regular grottoes in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes are open to the public, and only part of them can be randomly visited at a time. However, the Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou has copied many special grottoes that cannot be seen during normal tourism. Many murals can only be visited in the fine arts. You can only see it in textbooks.
【Overall evaluation】
Personally, I feel that Lanzhou Dunhuang Art Museum is a perfect substitute for Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. For tourists who have not reserved tickets for Mogao Grottoes, a visit to Dunhuang Art Museum can completely make up for the regret of not being able to see Mogao Grottoes with their own eyes. And I feel that the Dunhuang Art Museum will gain more, and the art works displayed in the art museum are very restored and can be taken as souvenirs. It is worth checking in to visit.
In fact, most tourists who visit Dunhuang basically have to stop in Lanzhou, so a visit to the Dunhuang Art Museum will not waste any time.

Gansu, there's more than just spicy hot pot!
Today, I've organized a travel journal for the babies heading to the golden city of Lanzhou.
Departing from Xi'an by high-speed train🚅, it takes just 2.5 hours to reach Lanzhou West Station~ Gansu is so hot🔥 right now, interested babies should take advantage of the weekend and set off. You can spend one day as a special forces soldier, or take two days to leisurely stroll around (the temperature difference between day and night is significant, remember to bring a coat).
Accommodation: I recommend staying near Xiguan, close to Zhongshan Bridge, the snack street, the museum, and various attractions!
City transportation🚗: Buses and taxis are very convenient, and by the way, Lanzhou's taxis are colorful.
Must-visit attractions📸:
✅Gansu Museum: Treasures of the Silk Road await your discovery, a cultural feast not to be missed, and there are various funny cultural and creative dolls like 'Horse Stepping on a Flying Swallow' worth seeing. (Book in advance, no admission fee, enter with your ID card, closed on Mondays!)
✅Dunhuang Art Gallery: A one-to-one replica of the Mogao Caves, free of charge, interested babies can go take a look, and it's also great for taking photos.
✅Zhongshan Bridge: The breeze of history caresses your cheeks, stepping from the past into the present. The neon lights of the iron bridge make the night view even more enticing.
✅Baita Mountain Park: Climb high for a distant view, the sharp spire of the white pagoda is like a brushstroke, depicting the tranquil and bustling intertwined scene of Lanzhou. Overlooking the whole city, Lanzhou's night view is like Manhattan at night🌃.
✅Waterwheel Expo Park: The large waterwheel🌊, the rotating years, ancient irrigation methods, experience the diligence and wisdom of the people by the Yellow River.
✅Stroll by the Yellow River: Sit by the Yellow River and have a cup of Sanpaotai, listen to the waves, watch the sunset sprinkle golden light across the river, and enjoy a romantic moment. The brave babies can also try the sheepskin raft, I took a speedboat ride, and the river breeze was also beautiful.
✅Mother of the Yellow River Statue: The spiritual symbol of Lanzhou, a must-visit when in Lanzhou.
Food recommendations🍜:
🉑Fang Ha: Lanzhou's specialty chain milk tea shop, sweet embryo milk tea, sweet embryo has the feel of fermented glutinous rice but the texture is like pearls, chewy and surprisingly suitable with milk tea.
🉑Haijia Chuan Chuan Spicy Hot Pot: The popular Gansu spicy hot pot, red oil chili, although it looks spicy, it's actually fragrant, especially fragrant when wrapped around various vegetables, and with a serving of hand-pulled noodles, it's incredibly delicious.
🉑Beef Noodles: Really, any place is delicious, I like to eat thin noodles, served with hot soup, tea eggs, and large slices of beef, so fragrant.
🉑Zai Hui Shou: A collection of local snacks, spicy tripe mix, grey beans, potato cakes, just follow the bestsellers, you can't go wrong.
There's also Lanzhou barbecue, yogurt, all kinds of lamb. Zhengning Road night market, Nanguan night market, just wander and eat, in short, there are too many delicious things in Lanzhou, this foodie is fully satisfied.
Lanzhou's attractions are quite concentrated and mostly free of charge, and there's a lot of special food, it's really suitable for workers to relax on the weekend, rush

Produced by the Dunhuang Academy, the Lanzhou Free Art Museum is waiting for you
During the visit to the Gansu Provincial Museum, the volunteer guide highly recommended the Dunhuang Art Museum, which is definitely worth the visit.
🏝 About the attraction
The Dunhuang Art Museum, located about 3 kilometers+ from Lanzhou's Zhongshan Bridge, near the Lanzhou City Library and right next to the Dunhuang Academy, serves as the Dunhuang culture promotion window set up by the Dunhuang Academy in Lanzhou, which speaks volumes about its professionalism~
⚠️ Free admission, no reservation required, and no security check needed, this is such a carefree exhibition, yet it's the most unmissable part of the trip to Lanzhou.
The free exhibition at the Dunhuang Art Museum does not cut corners at all, ⚠️ it is highly recommended to listen to the free explanation at 11 am every day. Some netizens have squatted for a three-hour free explanation, which is really conscientious.
🚗 About the exhibition
'Solemn Pure Land' —— Tells how the Mogao Caves promote Buddhism
'Craftsmanship Construction' —— Talks about the historical architecture of various dynasties in the Dunhuang murals, Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin found the 'living fossil' of Tang dynasty wooden architecture through the Dunhuang murals, the Foguang Temple in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi
'Wall Paintings' —— Describes the evolution of painting styles across different dynasties
'Human World' —— Narrates the ancient people's life, aging, sickness, death, and marriage rituals
'Rainbow Garments' —— Discusses the changes in clothing styles of various dynasties, the patrons' clothes in the Dunhuang murals are really too beautiful
In addition, the most worthwhile thing to see is the restoration of Cave 220 of the Mogao Caves. The murals in this cave are all masterpieces, representing the culmination of Tang dynasty cave art in the Mogao Caves👍

Dunhuang Art Museum | Highly recommended, whether or not you go to Mogao Caves
| Highly recommended, whether or not you go to Mogao Caves. Perhaps you and I are the same, looking forward to the Mogao Caves before going, but when you get there, you can only visit 3 or 4 caves with a regular ticket, crowded and dimly lit, and the impression is not deep.
On the contrary, in the Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou, I was truly shocked by the grotto art. The copied murals, classic caves, colored sculptures, caisson flying sky, etc., with detailed and professional text introduction, taste carefully, and feel beautiful.
The exhibition of the Dunhuang Art Museum is divided into two parts. The first is to concentrate on displaying Dunhuang art, using ten units such as 'solemn pure land', 'wall danqing', 'craftsmanship' to display Buddhist, color, architecture, clothing and other grotto art and related historical culture.
The second part is themed 'journey', telling the story behind the Dunhuang Grottoes. Through the four units of 'Wind and Rain Dunhuang', 'Everyone's Mind', 'Guarding One Unmoved', 'Endless Life', it tells the hardships, dedication and persistence of the Mogao people in protecting the Mogao Caves since the 1930s and 1940s, which is very touching.
🕘【Opening hours】: Tuesday-Sunday 9:00-17:00 (16:30 stop admission; it is recommended to go in the morning to ensure enough visiting time)
💴【Tickets】: Free, no need to make an appointment, you can enter directly.
⛺【Recommended to watch carefully】:
1. Classic murals: Reading ancient stories, the fascinating Buddhist fairyland.
2. Cave 220 Zhai Family Cave: Gorgeous sutra paintings, lost Hu Xuan dance, etc.
3. Clothing and patterns: The dress of the offering person, the pattern of the flying sky, colorful.
🚌【Traffic strategy】:
Multiple buses go directly, get off at Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park (Reader Group) or Pingliang Road North Exit Station, and walk a few minutes to get there.
👉【Itinerary】:
The art museum is not far from the Yellow River, with Lanzhou Sports Park, Waterwheel Expo Park, Reader Group, etc., arranging a day's itinerary is very satisfactory.

The newly opened Dunhuang Art Museum in Lanzhou, hurry up while it's still free of charge
For those who have never been to Dunhuang, you must visit the Dunhuang Art Museum. It is said to be newly opened, so hurry up while it's still free. Although I have been to Dunhuang before, I have almost forgotten the story and historical background.
Here, you can better feel the entire atmosphere of the Dunhuang murals, such as the famous mural story of the nine-colored deer, the demon becomes a Buddha, and have a general understanding of the historical background of how the murals were restored and produced.
And the photos taken here are quite good, the cultural history is edifying, and you can feel the curator's painstaking efforts.
