Chongqing, a magical and charming city.
It is like a three-dimensional painting, slowly unfolding between the mountains and rivers. The Jialing River and the Yangtze River converge here, and the rushing waters endow the city with endless vitality.
Hongya Cave, with its layers of stilted buildings, is brilliantly lit at night, as if one has traveled to the fantastical world of Spirited Away. The warm yellow lights reflect on the river, creating a dreamlike scene.
Jiefangbei, the landmark building of Chongqing, has witnessed the city's changes and development. Surrounding it are bustling commercial streets, filled with the atmosphere of a modern metropolis.
The winding paths of the mountain city offer a unique charm as you stroll through them. On one side are ancient buildings, and on the other, the diverse aspects of everyday life.
From the top of Nanshan, you can overlook the entire city of Chongqing. The neatly arranged skyscrapers, the ceaseless flow of traffic, and the night scene adorned with lights are all mesmerizing.
Ciqikou Ancient Town, with its bluestone roads bearing the marks of time, and its quaint shops emitting bursts of fragrance, makes one feel as if they have traveled back in time.
Chongqing's transportation is also a unique sight. The cableways crossing the rivers and the light rail weaving between buildings offer novel and exciting experiences.
And then there is the spicy and flavorful hotpot, with its smoky aroma permeating the streets and alleys, allowing everyone who comes to Chongqing to feel the city's warmth and generosity.
Chongqing has both the agility of mountains and rivers and the prosperity of a metropolis; it has the sediment of history and the vitality of modernity. It is a place full of charm and surprises, waiting for you to discover its every wonder. Let's step into Chongqing, appreciate the unique scenery of this mountain city, and feel its heat and passion. Chongqing always exudes its unique allure.

"The Cliffside Lights" of Chongqing, as Referred to by Locals 🏞️🏮
Chongqing, known for its mountainous terrain and vibrant city life, offers a magical experience after dark. The city's nightscape, often likened to "lights on a cliff" by locals, is a sight to behold.
Standing on Hongyadong, a historic riverside complex, you can immerse yourself in the unique beauty of Chongqing. The juxtaposition of ancient and modern, with traditional architecture blending harmoniously with modern skyscrapers, creates a mesmerizing scene. 🌃🏙️
As night falls, the city's lights illuminate the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, casting a picturesque reflection on the water. The sprawling cityscape, dotted with lights, seems to extend infinitely into the distance, creating a breathtaking panorama. 🌉🚢
Moreover, Chongqing's culinary scene comes alive at night. The city is renowned for its spicy Sichuan cuisine, and the streets are lined with food stalls offering a variety of local delicacies. Savoring hotpot or other regional dishes while surrounded by the city's bustling nightlife is an experience not to be missed. 🍲🌶️
Chongqing's mountain city nightscape is not just a visual delight; it also offers a glimpse into the city's vibrant culture and lifestyle. Whether you're exploring the bustling streets, enjoying a leisurely river cruise, or simply taking in the city's panoramic views, Chongqing's nightscape is sure to leave a lasting impression. 🚶♂️🚤

I'm going to tell the truth, Chongqing is really a popular internet celebrity city, but there are still more or less some tourist traps. Based on real experiences, I'll help you avoid them💣
(Just go for it, there's nothing inconvenient)

🗺️ Huguang Guild Hall: Ancient guild hall complex
🗺️ Liangjiang Ferry: Characteristic ferry

‼️ Things to note
☁️ Check the weather one or two days in advance, it was almost twenty degrees a few days ago and it was not cold at all in the sun, but it has cooled down recently
🌼 There are many places to enjoy flowers in Chongqing in spring: Chongqing Zoo, Banshan Cliff Line, Nanshan Botanical Garden, Garden Expo
🏨 Stay near Jiefangbei, very convenient!
🆓💡 There are many places to see night views in Chongqing for free, recommended Hongya Cave, Nanbin Road, Hong'en Temple, Mountain City Trail
🕳️ There is no fast track in Hongya Cave, no need to go inside
🗺️ If you want to visit the Three Gorges Museum, etc., it's closed on Mondays
🌉 The Yangtze River Cableway is by appointment on the same day, buy your ticket early. You can go to the South Station, which is less crowded than the North Station
🚢❗️❗️ The Two Rivers Cruise is not highly recommended, the ticket price is one or two hundred but the route is not much different from the Liangjiang Ferry, which only costs 15 yuan. The biggest difference is: Liangjiang Ferry does not have night shifts
🌃 If you want to have fun at night, Jiu Street has a rich nightlife
🍚🍜 Chongqing's food is generally spicy, those who prefer lighter meals should pay attention to their stomach health, the hot pot is very spicy
🍚🍜 Let's talk about food recommendations❗️
1️⃣ Jiefangbei He Ji Xing. Tiao Pi Dou Gan: Chongqing barbecue specialty, full of ingredients in one bite, both numbing and spicy
2️⃣ Jiefangbei Gui Su Meat: There are many people in line, crispy and crunchy, fried with pepper salt powder, really delicious
3️⃣ Chongqing Noodles: You should try the most authentic noodle soup when in Chongqing, it's really satisfying
4️⃣ Ba Dao Tang Hot Pot: The second-largest hot pot in Chongqing, many celebrities check-in, the spicy flavor is really addictive~

Jialing River Jiangbei 🇨🇳 Chongqing
Strollers Paradise!!!
or it will be when it's fully completed.
On the Jiangbei district riverfront side of the Jialing River, there is a wonderful, walking, running and cycling path. The walkers path is the most complete and has the fewest dead ends. The promonade and walkways follow the river in both directions and change levels throughout so you have the opportunity to get right up close to the water.
If you head east you'll see hongyadong and the intercontinental ascott (Singapore building) and if you head west you'll find bars, cafe and get a chance at some cool snaps of Liziba station from across the river.
We've done both and I recommend heading west in the day time and east in the evening.

Can you believe it? I saw seagulls in Chongqing!
Chongqing Seagull Viewing Guide
You can also see beautiful sunsets
Best Viewing Spots
- Nan'an District, Danzishi Wharf: Located at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, more than 30 black-headed gulls often play here. In the early morning, the sun shines on the river, and the black-headed gulls fly around, making it a great place for photography enthusiasts.
- Hechuan District, Dongjintuo Park: The natural environment is beautiful, and the black-headed gulls gather in groups along the river, flying high and diving over the Jialing River, adding vitality to the calm river. October to November is the best time to view them.
- Jiangjin District, West Section of Binjiang Road and under the Yangtze River Highway Bridge: The black-headed gulls here fly in groups over the water, and their morning calls add vitality to the riverbank, making it suitable for morning runners and bird watchers.
- Wanzhou District, Shiqimao Wharf: In early winter, black-headed gulls come here, attracting many citizens to watch, forming a beautiful cityscape.
Viewing Time
Black-headed gulls are winter migratory birds. They usually leave their breeding grounds in autumn (September to October) and migrate south. They only stay in Chongqing for a limited time, so visitors who want to see them should hurry.
Travel Tips
- Watch them in a civilized manner, keep a proper distance, and avoid scaring the black-headed gulls.
- Choose suitable standard food for feeding, such as bread and steamed buns, and feed them in land areas or designated feeding points. Remember to wash your hands after feeding.
- Do not make loud noises, touch, chase, or catch the black-headed gulls while watching them.
- You can choose to take a boat, such as the Liangjiang Ferry, to watch the black-headed gulls, but pay attention to safety.

Night Cruise on the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers in Chongqing
Chongqing Two Rivers Tour refers to taking a cruise on the Yangtze River and its tributary, the Jialing River, to view the scenery and night views of the mountain city. Chongqing, this mountain city, is embraced by the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. The unique combination of mountains, rivers, and a big city makes Chongqing's scenery, especially its night views, world-renowned.
As the saying goes, 'If you don't see the night view, it's a waste to visit Chongqing.' The scenery of the four banks of the two rivers in Chongqing has been one of the famous sights of Bayu since the Qing Dynasty. The best way to see the night view is to take a cruise, tour the two rivers, and enjoy the mountain city's appearance in the gentle breeze, storing it in your heart. The Chongqing Two Rivers Tour is an important traditional tourist program in Chongqing tourism. It not only represents the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers as the mother rivers of Chongqing, symbolizing and epitomizing Chongqing, but also gathers the essence of Chongqing's urban and mountain landscapes along the four banks of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers.
Along the Chongqing Two Rivers Tour, you can see the grand and elegant ancient architectural complex of the Huguang Guild Hall; the 'Nanbin Road Food Culture Street,' known as Chongqing's Bund; the country's first aerial passenger cableway crossing the river; the Ciyun Temple, where Buddhist monks and nuns share the same temple; the Yangtze River Bridge, Chaotianmen Bridge, Chaotianmen Square, Yuzhong Peninsula, the confluence of the two rivers, Jiefangbei Central Business District, Jiangbeizui Chongqing Opera House, Science and Technology Museum, and the Hongya Cave Folk Custom Area, which features traditional Bayu architectural characteristics such as stilted buildings.

A person went to Chongqing
A person went to Chongqing
As someone from Sichuan, I felt that Chongqing was probably quite similar to Sichuan, so I didn't have much desire to go. Despite being close by, I never visited. Recently, having graduated and with some free time, plus the urge to try traveling alone, I impulsively bought a ticket and started a three-day, two-night journey.
After arriving, I found it indeed quite similar to Chengdu, without many surprises, but I discovered that the photos I took here are all very beautiful, like one postcard after another.
The Chongqing dialect is so similar to the Sichuan dialect that speaking my hometown language while traveling feels oddly relaxing and intimate. The density of handsome men and beautiful women here is the same as in Chengdu; every few steps, you see someone stunning. The handsome men here are very handsome, and the beautiful women are very beautiful.
However, I probably won't travel alone again in the future, as it still feels a bit lonely. During the trip, I met a few girls from Hubei and a girl from Guangdong. They were all very nice people and even helped me take some pretty photos.

Chongqing captured the lonely tree from 'Attack on Titan'
Under the bridge by the river, a solitary tree, the embrace of nature and the city, the contrast of green and red, it's like the scene from the ending of 'Attack on Titan'.

These are the reasons why I love Chongqing~
The grandeur of a city nurtured by great rivers, and the everyday humanity revealed in its ordinary alleys. If you ask for a reason why I like Chongqing, this one is enough.
Sometimes I feel that Chongqing has shadows of many cities in China, perhaps just by crossing a bridge, you feel as if you've entered a completely different city. The natural geographical division of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, as well as the sky-reaching and earth-penetrating light rail, various bridges, tunnels, and air-raid shelters, further accentuate this characteristic of 'multiple urban forms', bringing the changing scenes to a climax.
So you can say Chongqing is Hong Kong, it is Bangkok, it is Changsha, and even most cities in China.

6 things you must know before going to Chongqing
1⃣️The biggest city feature of Chongqing is its exaggerated terrain difference. Many buildings are built on the mountain, sometimes taking a taxi is not as fast as walking, and you need to bring a three-dimensional perspective when looking at the map.
2⃣️The best travel time in Chongqing is from May to July each year. At this time, it is just the beginning of summer. The weather in Chongqing, known as the stove, is not particularly hot, about 20 degrees, mostly sunny days🌞
3⃣️The most well-known scenic spot in Chongqing is Hongyadong. The main landscape of Hongyadong is more than ten layers of stilted buildings. Next to it is the Jialing River Bridge. At 7 o'clock in the evening, the entire building will light up, no tickets are needed. The best photo spot is on the side of Jialingjiang Road on the first floor, and of course, the view from the bridge is also particularly spectacular.
4⃣️In addition to Hongyadong, Chongqing also has these must-see attractions: Liziba's through-building subway, Crown's hundred-story escalator, Jiefangbei pedestrian street, and Bai Xiangju.
5⃣️For the first time in Chongqing, you can plan a three-day and two-night itinerary. Chongqing is not suitable for special forces travel. Avoid staying in Hongyadong and Jiefangbei business district. The price is particularly expensive. Chongqing's public transportation is relatively convenient. Guanyinqiao and Hongqi River Gully are good.
6⃣️How can you not eat hot pot when you come to Chongqing? Recommend Deng Mangzi Hot Pot in Yuzhong District and Panda Hot Pot in Pipa Mountain, and Bald Qiang Hot Pot in Shapingba. If you can't eat spicy food, remember to tell the boss in advance about the mandarin duck pot🍜

Firstly, the natural scenery of Chongqing is admirable. The city is surrounded by mountains and water, where the Yangtze River and Jialing River converge, forming a spectacular river surface. The landscape of Chongqing is very charming, especially after nightfall, the neon lights and buildings on the river bank cast long shadows on the river surface, making people linger.
However, the cultural heritage of Chongqing is the most fascinating part of it. The history here is long, and from ancient times to the present, countless literati have left valuable cultural heritage. In various museums and historical sites in Chongqing, tourists can appreciate the prosperity of ancient times and the profound culture. At the same time, Chongqing is also a city of food, and its unique hot pot, spicy hot pot, and small noodles make everyone who has tasted it memorable.
In addition to natural and cultural landscapes, the urban development of Chongqing is also worth mentioning. In recent years, Chongqing has been continuously carrying out urban renewal and infrastructure construction, making this city more livable and prosperous. The skyscrapers in Chongqing are lined up, and the modern transportation network is accessible in all directions, making it more convenient for people to travel. At the same time, the citizens of Chongqing are also very enthusiastic and friendly, adding more charm to this city.
In summary, Chongqing is a vibrant and charming city. It not only has beautiful natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, and unique cuisine, but also continuously carries out urban renewal and infrastructure construction, making this city more livable and prosperous. Whether you are a history lover, a foodie, or a tourist who likes to explore new things, Chongqing will bring you an unforgettable travel experience. Therefore, I strongly recommend Chongqing as your next travel destination.
