Step into a world like an oil painting, feel the charm of the morning light of West Lake
Step into a world like an oil painting, feel the charm of the morning light of West Lake. 📍Come to West Lake Flower Harbor to watch fish, this beautiful place is waiting for your exploration.
The morning sun is the most brilliant between 7-8 o'clock. At this time, the sun has just risen, and the golden light is sprinkled on the lake, making West Lake look like a poem and painting.
The lake water under the morning light is sparkling, shining like a gem. The birds are singing happily on the branches by the lake, reflecting each other with the morning light, forming a moving picture.
The lotus leaves in the lake look even greener in the morning light, and the dew shines in the sun, as beautiful as pearls. And the lotus flowers sway slightly in the morning light, exuding a fresh fragrance.
The surrounding mountains are more beautiful in the morning light, with clouds and mists, like a poem and painting. And the small bridges and flowing water of the Flower Harbor watching fish add a bit of poetry, making people linger.

Hangzhou's most beautiful maple leaf season, at this time of the year, Hangzhou is like an oil painting
1 Taiziwan
One of the mainstream West Lake scenic spots in Hangzhou, undoubtedly beautiful, but there are indeed many people, especially those taking pictures! It is recommended to arrive at 7 o'clock to appreciate the morning mist
🎫: Free
P: Taiziwan West Gate Parking Lot (there are more parking spaces there)
2 Huagang Guanyu
Because many scenic spots in Hangzhou can feed fish, so I didn't specifically go to the red fish pond. I quickly ate this glowing pancake when the traffic light was red. I personally love the Binhu Corridor, looking at the small South Lake and the distant mountains, each frame is like a scene in a painting
🎫: Free
P: Huagang Park Parking Lot (at the entrance of Zhiweiguan Weizhuang)
3 Yu Hu Bay
Compared with other scenic spots in West Lake, there are not many people here, but it is this low-key hidden in the city, if you have more time, you can go to Turtle Pond, or take a hand-rowed boat on the Turtle Pond route, which is incredibly beautiful
🎫: Free
P: Chishanbu Parking Lot
4 Maojiabu
There are few people here like the West Lake scenic spot, basically all are locals in Hangzhou, there are no particularly eye-catching check-in points, and no golden positions, but there is more aimless comfort
🎫: Free
P: Xia Maojiabu Parking Lot
5 Guozhuang
You can walk all the way from Maojiabu to Guozhuang, a small and beautiful private garden of the Qing Dynasty, to appreciate the popular Red Maple King
🎫: 10 yuan (free for park annual card)
6 Quyuan Fenghe
Go for a battery boat (you have to drive it yourself) The battery boat ticket price is very conscientious, 30 yuan for half an hour, can sit 4 people, it is a different feeling to appreciate the beautiful scenery on the lake
🎫: Free
P: You can walk directly from Guozhuang (Gate 4), if you enter from the north, you can park in the Yue Temple Parking Lot
LUNA MAY
Huagang Guanyu is one of the ten scenic spots at the West Lake. It is located on the west side of the south section of Sudi and features flowers, harbours and fish. After the second phase of the expansion project was started in 1964, the area expanded to cover 20 hectares. The park is divided into five scenic spots: Red Fish Pond, Peony Garden, Huagang, Large Lawn and Jungle Land. It is opposite Leifeng Pagoda and Jingci Temple. The red fish pond is located in the south of the centre of the park and is the central area for the whole park. The shores of the lake twists and turns and has a curved bridge over it. There are thousands of gold-streaked red fish that swim in this pond.

Hangzhou City Walk (West Lake Maple Viewing Route)
Maple Viewing and Metasequoia Walking Spots:
Prince Bay Park, Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor, Guo's Villa, Quyuan Garden
🍜 Food Guide:
Zhiweiguan (braised food, pastries and snacks), Hangzhou Restaurant (smoked fish, oil buns)
Travel Guide:
1. Transfer to Metro Line 1 at Hangzhou East Railway Station (Longxiangqiao Station Exit C, Hubin Plaza)
2. Walk to Yigongyuan Bus Stop (about 10 minutes), passing by the flagship store of Hangzhou's time-honored brand Zhiweiguan and Hangzhou Restaurant.
3. Take the West Lake Ring Line or 1314 Zhongyi Bus to Su Causeway Station, walk back to the traffic light intersection, and you will find the entrances to Prince Bay Park and Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor on both sides of the road. Visit Prince Bay Park first (about 1 hour), then Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor (about 1–2 hours).
4. The other exit of Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor is Yuhuwan Station. After visiting, you can choose Su Causeway Station or Yuhuwan Station and take the ring line to Guo's Villa.
5. The largest metasequoia forest area in West Lake is on both sides of Yang Causeway and Guo's Villa. The visit takes about 1 hour (Guo's Villa ticket is CNY 10).
6. Walk 20 minutes from Guo's Villa to Quyuan Garden, and the visit takes about 1–2 hours. The exit of Quyuan Garden Pier is Yue Fei Temple.
💗 Other Tips:
1. Although there are maple leaves in other scenic spots of West Lake, they are not as attractive as the dense and thick ones in Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor. Coupled with the nearby metasequoia forest, this is a rare boutique route for winter hiking with beautiful scenery and few people.
2. If you have good physical strength, you can plan to add Yuhuwan and Maojiabu to your itinerary.

As December approaches, the maple leaves in Hangzhou are at their best. Huagang Park is one of the best places to see them.
The maple leaves in Huagang Park are like dancers in gorgeous costumes, the stars of the show. The red leaves and traditional Chinese architecture complement each other, with the bright red leaves and the blue tiles and white walls telling a long story. The fish in the lake swim around, creating ripples that reflect the red leaves and ancient buildings, creating a poetic picture. This is the best way to appreciate the beauty of the past.
Maple Viewing Guide:
🎫Tickets: Free.
🚘Driving: Navigate to the west gate of Huagang Park. There is less traffic here. Parking is CNY 10/hour.
📸Best Photo Spots:
✅Near the South Gate: The wooden bridge under the Luyi Pavilion, with the maple forest and benches, is a great place to take photos. The two maple trees in the lakeside corridor are also a great spot.
✅Central Area: The Yinying Pavilion is a great place to take photos with a telephoto lens. The Peony Garden is also a great place to take photos, with the maple forest and the riverbank.
✅Near the West Gate: The two maple trees near the long bridge at the west gate are a great place to take photos. The bridge near the Wanbo Pavilion is also a great place to take photos, especially at sunset.

Hangzhou West Lake | A Place of No Return, by the Green Shadows of West Lake
Every time I visit West Lake, I have a different mood:
In the early morning, a thin mist envelops the earth like a veil. In the silence, only the early birds occasionally chirp, as if calling for the warm sun. In the pond, a thin layer of ice forms on the water, like a mirror reflecting the withered branches and the hazy sky. The fish under the ice may be dreaming of spring.
In the afternoon, the sun struggles to penetrate the clouds, casting a few weak rays. In the fields, the once-vibrant crops have long been harvested, leaving only the empty land, exposed to the cold wind. The wild grass on the ridges has also withered, trembling in the wind, yet still stubbornly holding on. The distant mountains have shed their green coats and donned gray-brown cotton clothes, lying quietly between heaven and earth, contrasting with the blue sky and white clouds.
In the forest, most of the trees have lost their leaves, leaving only dry trunks and branches pointing to the sky, as if longing for spring. Only the pines and cypresses remain green and upright, like loyal guards protecting the forest. The ground is covered with thick fallen leaves, crunching underfoot, as if singing a song about the cycle of life.
In the evening, the setting sun dyes the sky orange-red. Smoke rises, adding warmth to the cold winter day. The birds returning to their nests chirp on the branches, sharing their day's experiences. As night falls, the stars twinkle, and the moonlight shines on the snow, casting a silver glow.
Winter lacks the blooming flowers of spring, the passion of summer, and the harvest joy of autumn, but it has a unique tranquility and depth that inspires awe, allowing people to feel the resilience and strength of life in the cold, and look forward to the arrival of the next spring.

Maple Leaf Viewing in Hangzhou | A Stroll in a Painting! Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor
The maple leaves are getting redder these days. If you don't want to squeeze into the crowd at Jiuxi, come to Flower Harbor to view fish. It's a small garden by West Lake, with few people, beautiful scenery, and free admission.
There are pavilions and waterside pavilions built by the water, a glowing bridge hole with sunlight passing through, a continuous red maple forest, and clear tree shadows reflected on the water. Every frame looks like an oil painting, and the autumn palette is wantonly painted here.
The weather is nice this weekend, so you can plan a trip from Beishan Street to Quyuan Fenghe, Flower Harbor to view fish, and Prince Bay Park. There are not many people along the way, and you can see maple leaves, phoenix trees, and metasequoia.

West Lake is truly stunning❗️ The Ten Scenes of West Lake can be completed in one day|||First time visiting Hangzhou in summer, I knew West Lake was beautiful but didn't realize it was this beautiful in summer!! In one day, I checked off nine of the ten scenes of West Lake, except for 'Broken Bridge Remnant Snow'.
🗺️ Total distance: about 16 kilometers by walking, cycling, boating, and taking an electric car, relatively easy❗️ Not tiring for the legs❗️
⏰ Time: 7-8 hours

.
🏞️ Ten Scenes of West Lake
🔺 Starting point: Orioles Singing in the Willows (I didn't have time to visit due to time constraints)
🚇 Subway: Walk 600 meters from Wushan Square C exit of Metro Line 7. The No.1 imperial garden of the capital in the Southern Song Dynasty, every shot can be a wallpaper.
🔺 Three Pools Mirroring the Moon
Take a boat from West Lake Park Pier, buy a ticket to Three Pools Mirroring the Moon Island. The largest island in the center of West Lake, the same scenery as on the '1 yuan' note.
🔺 Viewing Fish at Flower Pond
Choose the return trip to Flower Pond Pier on Three Pools Mirroring the Moon Island. By the fish pond, leaning on the railing and overlooking thousands of golden-scaled red fish playing in groups, it truly matches the saying 'Fish swim in spring water, moistening each other, playing with green pearls in the waves.' The ancestors did not deceive me!

The 'Huang Wu Fei' of Xili Lake
This is the only white lotus area in Xihu. This type of lotus, named Huang Wu Fei, is said to have been introduced from Wuhan in 2016 and planted in this water area of Xihu. The first flower bloomed in June, but its flowering period is very long, lasting until mid to late August. The white lotus flowers are as beautiful as fair ladies, incredibly enchanting.

Flower Harbor Watching Fish
Flower Harbor Watching Fish is a scenic spot characterized by flowers, harbors, and fish. It is one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake. The stele of Flower Harbor Watching Fish was inscribed by Emperor Qianlong during his visit to the south of the Yangtze River. The traditional Chinese character for 'fish' is written with four dots, representing fire, but Qianlong changed it to three dots, representing water, symbolizing that the people's lives are harmonious and the country is stable and peaceful.
Due to the high outdoor temperature at that time, the fish went to cool off, making it suitable for visiting and viewing in the spring and autumn seasons.

The early summer scenery of West Lake
The weather in Hangzhou is also impressive. In the past few days, it was either raining or cloudy, but as soon as the holiday 'mode' kicked in, sunshine and blue skies with white clouds 'reported for duty'. To make the most of this fine weather, I really pushed myself. Starting from Hubin Park III, I walked and checked in at various attractions along the southern route of West Lake in less than 5 hours. From Jixian Pavilion to Liulang Wenying, passing through Changqiao Park and Leifeng Pagoda, and finally from Huagang Guanyu to Prince Bay, I walked more than 20,000 steps in total, experiencing the lively atmosphere of West Lake on the first day of the extended holiday.
The first-hand news about the lotus flowers in West Lake, the lotus flowers by Jixian Pavilion have bloomed. Although not many, they are quite eye-catching under the sun. I found that the lotus viewing period at West Lake is getting longer and longer, which can last from early June to mid-September.
The stinky peonies in Huagang Guanyu Park were a pleasant surprise. It was the first time I discovered that these pink flowers, clustered together, are also very beautiful. The color of these flowers is similar to that of verbena, but they are not single; it's like many 'verbenas' growing together. In fact, stinky peonies are fragrant, but they emit a foul smell if the leaves are damaged. These flowers have strong reproductive abilities and are easy to keep alive. In Huagang Guanyu, besides a large area in the peony garden, there are also many blooming along the roadside.

Hangzhou Flower Harbor Fish Viewing Park
The Flower Harbor Fish Viewing is located in the southwest of the West Lake, surrounded by water on three sides and backed by mountains. It is a large park covering more than 300 acres. Behind the Xishan Dama Ridge, at the foot of Huajia Mountain, there is a clear stream that flows through here into the West Lake, hence the name Flower Harbor. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the court eunuch Lu Yunsheng built a villa at the foot of Huajia Mountain, called 'Lu Garden', where he planted flowers and raised fish. The water in the pond was clear and the scenery was exquisite. Later, Lu Garden fell into disrepair, and the scenery also declined. During the Kangxi Emperor's southern tour in the Qing Dynasty, on the former site of Dingxiang Temple between the Yingbo Bridge and Suolan Bridge on the Su Causeway, fish ponds were rebuilt, pavilions and gardens were constructed, stones were inscribed, and the four characters 'Flower Harbor Fish Viewing' were engraved. The Flower Harbor Fish Viewing Park is located to the west of the southern section of the Su Causeway, on a peninsula between West Inner Lake and Lesser South Lake. It was also called Lu Garden due to its proximity to Huajia Mountain and was named 'Flower Harbor'. During that period, when court painters created a series of paintings of the ten scenes of West Lake, it was included and thus became widely known. In ancient times, there was only one pond, one stele, and three acres of land here. After expansion, the park now covers nearly 300 acres. Today's Flower Harbor Fish Viewing is a large park covering more than twenty hectares. When the breeze passes, flowers fall from the trees along the pond bank, scattering and floating on the water surface, creating a moving picture of 'flowers adorning the fish and fish sipping the flowers', evoking envy for the fish in everyone.

Are the red maples of Hangzhou's West Lake here to repay a favor?~
The progress of autumn colors at Hangzhou's West Lake has reached 90%.
After the first wave of maple leaves turned red at Prince Bay Park,
the second wave at Flower Harbor Park is also gradually turning a thorough red.
The maple leaves here are more abundant and redder than those at Prince Bay Park,
the scenery is even more beautiful, perfect for taking photos and checking in.

Just came back from Taiziwan, it's all big truths, watch and then go!
❤️Recommendation reasons:
The tulips have really bloomed! But only thirty percent!
The most spectacular patch is still seedlings🌱
If you're not in a hurry, you can wait a bit longer, it is expected to take another 1-2 weeks to reach the peak!
The weather has warmed up recently, and the tulips🌷 change every day
I still prefer them when they are about to bloom
By the time they are in full bloom, they are not far from withering
The area by the lakeside plank road is blooming the best right now!
The 2 cherry blossom trees🌸 next to the big windmill have also bloomed, super beautiful
After watching, it's recommended to go to Maojiabu for a stroll, a huge sea of February orchid flowers
🗓Itinerary:
Route: Taiziwan Park (see tulips, pink cherry blossoms) → Flower Harbor to see fish (see magnolia flowers, exit from the east gate) → Bapanling Road-Santaishan Road → Maojiabu (see February orchids)
Location: Taiziwan Park (enter from the west gate)
Tulip Flower Show: March 8 - April 14
Tickets: Free, reservation for the same day and the next day is possible,
Be sure to make a reservation in advance! Reserve on 'Palm West Lake', up to 3 tickets🎫 can be reserved at a time
It will definitely be congested during the flower show, don't drive there!
🚉Transportation Strategy:
🚌Bus lines 4/1314/139/31 etc. to 'Chishanbu'
You can also take the flower-viewing boat at Qianwang Temple Pier or Hangfan Pier

The boat ticket is 15 yuan, 5 yuan for Hangzhou residents with ID

Sharing places to enjoy peonies in Hangzhou in April~
The peonies in front of the courtyard lack charm, and the lotuses on the pond are less pure.
Only the peony is the true color of the nation, captivating the capital when it blooms.
-
When the peonies bloom in April, seeing the real peonies made me finally understand why they are called the 'peony of wealth and honor' haha, they are truly beautiful.
For those like me who want to enjoy the flowers but don't have time to go to Luoyang, here are a few places in Hangzhou where you can see peonies~😉
📍Huagang Guanyu - Peony Garden, Huagang Guanyu is really an underestimated park by the West Lake, and one of the spots is called the Peony Garden, which has a whole area of peony flower beds.
📍Liuhe Pagoda - Peony Exhibition, Liuhe Pagoda holds a peony exhibition every year, with a relatively wide variety of peonies, including potted and ground-planted ones.
Exhibition time: 3.29~4.15

Raise your hand if you love forests and let me share a hidden green gem in Hangzhou!
After arriving in Hangzhou, I realized how much I truly love trees😭 The trees in Hangzhou grow so well! They seem to have such energy💚🚶🏻♀️🌲
Here are a few of my favorite spots to walk and feel the forest's greenery️🤫 for those who, like me, feel that trees can 'rejuvenate'🙋🏻♀️
-
1️⃣ Bao Shi Mountain: I suggest entering from the North Gate 1🔺 The hiking trails here offer more beautiful scenery than other routes!🥺 It's all dense jungle, full of greenery🌿 Very comfortable! There's also a large bamboo forest
2️⃣ Hu Pao Park: How beautiful is Hu Pao dddd💁🏻♀️ A huge natural oxygen bar, and you can even take spring water home to make tea🍵
3️⃣ Yang Gong Causeway: Biking along Yang Gong Causeway is absolutely fantastic! Although there are many slopes which can be tiring hhh🚴🏻♀️ Not to mention the parks along the way are relatively less crowded treasures by the West Lake🤭
4️⃣ Flower Harbor Watching Fish: Although it's one of the Ten Scenes of West Lake, if you go deeper, you'll find it's much less crowded than Su Causeway🤫 The trees and flowers have more layers, and there are bridges and pavilions where you can rest🌿🌸
5️⃣ Liu Lang Wen Ying: Also one of the Ten Scenes of West Lake, you can walk directly to the lakeside, but it's much less crowded than places like Hubin❗️ The park is small, dominated by willow trees, and in spring the budding willows swaying in the breeze are truly beautiful💚🥺 I really like it here
6️⃣ Xixi Wetland: Xixi Wetland is just too big, I haven't fully explored it after several visits😅 The variety of plants is rich, and I particularly like the large cedar forest near the Lotus Pool Bird Watching Area, which feels like walking in a forest🌲
7️⃣ White Snake's Flight (next to Wansong Academy): There's a beautiful jungle corridor here, but it's more suitable for photography📷 compared to the leisurely atmosphere of other places
8️⃣ Yunqi Bamboo Pathway: For those who love bamboo forests, this is the place! Every time I enter, I start to feel like I'm in a martial arts drama hhhhh🎋
9️⃣ Hangzhou Botanical Garden: You can imagine the diversity of plant species, it's actually more suitable for flower viewing🌸 but there are also many trees, I prefer to sit for a while in the pavilion at Yu Quan Fish Leaping, it's very comfortable
🔟 Nine Creeks and Eighteen Gullies: 🚶🏻♀️ Suitable for light hiking~ The climb is on a slope, not stairs, and you can walk all the way to Man Jue Long, with trees and water, many people also like to come here for camping in spring and autumn~🏕
