Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Company, through its Singaporean subsidiary, has acquired an 18.5% stake in ACI Motors for $22.75 million (Tk270 crore) from two existing investors. This strategic investment aims to provide integrated solutions for agriculture, transportation, and infrastructure. ACI Motors, a growing division of ACI Limited, plans to leverage Mitsui's expertise to expand its passenger and electric vehicle sectors, rice processing capabilities, and export markets for locally-made agro machinery. Managing Director FH Ansarey stated that two top-level Mitsui executives would join ACI Motors to enhance strategic decisions. Mitsui, a global powerhouse with operations in 61 countries and over $100 billion in annual revenue, views Bangladesh's consumer market as a high-growth area for retail and logistics. MJL Bangladesh to purchase oil tanker for $45m-47m. MJL Bangladesh PLC. has decided to replace its old oil tanker, MT Omera Legacy, with a new Aframax oil tanker. This acquisition will enhance the company's transportation capabilities and positively impact its overall business growth. According to the stock exchange disclosure today (25 November), the Aframax tanker, although second-hand, has a substantial capacity of approximately 1,15,000 deadweight tonnes. It is around 12-13 years old and has been priced between $45 million and $47 million.
