De elektrificatietechnologieën die binnen ELIN worden ontwikkeld, zullen helpen om de (petro)chemische industrie duurzamer te maken en zo de opwarming van de aarde te bestrijden. Het Instituut zal gevestigd zijn in de hypermoderne innovatiehub BlueApp waar labo- en pilootfaciliteiten aanwezig zijn. 📣 BlueApp is thrilled to announce the launch of the Electrification Institute! The first and only one of its kind in Belgium. ⚡ The goal of the Electrification Institute is to achieve net – zero emissions and sustainable processes by moving towards cost-efficient electrification pathways. 💬 Wim Michiels, president of essenscia Flanders and CEO of Proviron points out that the chemical sector has already made significant efforts to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency: “Companies are fully engaged in the transition to climate neutrality and circularity. In order to meet the Green Deal targets we need a multitude of technologies and energy innovations. In this respect, electrification of production processes is likely to be one of the most important solutions whereby the Electrification Institute as a joint initiative can make a significant contribution to a successful industrial transition”. 🧠 Behind the institute stands the unique expertise of the University of Antwerp. Prof. Annemie Bogaerts is a world authority in the field of plasma technology. Electrochemical engineering techniques are the expertise of prof. Tom Breugelmans and prof. Patrice Perreault ensures the smooth deployment of the energy efficient power-to-heat technologies.
