About us
Bozar, the Centre for Fine Arts’ cultural project, offers a dynamic and diversified cultural programme of concerts and exhibitions: a multidisciplinary approach in which debates, theatre, cinema, literature and other disciplines meet to reflect on the connections between art and society. — The Centre for Fine Arts aims to be a European cultural centre, anchored in the 21st century, with a novel and innovative view of society, a laboratory of ideas attuned to society’s current and future challenges. In the coming decade, Bozar aims to embody change, and contribute to seven major and evolving societal challenges. Sitting atop Coudenberg Hill, monumental and yet discreet, the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts is Belgium’s major cultural venue. In 1913, Queen Elisabeth and King Albert I expressed their desire to build “a temple devoted to Music and the Arts”. Designed by renowned Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947), construction began after the First World War. Upon returning from his stay in the United States, Horta abandoned his flamboyant, industrial Art Nouveau style for the more monumental and geometric language of Art Deco. Inaugurated in 1928, the Centre for Fine Arts is a testimony to this aesthetic revolution. For nearly a century, the centre has hosted the art world’s crème de la crème, and it is where most of Bozar’s cultural and artistic activities are held.

“The EU is now about to discuss and decide on its future policies affecting culture from 2025 onward, as well as on its multi-annual financial framework for 2028-2034. The existence of these policies and programs carries a fundamental and symbolic message to the rest of the world. For the EU is perhaps the only region that actively supports transnational creations and co-productions, as well as the mobility of artists from all backgrounds, including those in exile.” - Christophe Slagmuylder, CEO and Artistic Director at Bozar 👏 Happy to host the 2025 edition of the Cultural Deal for Europe annual policy conversation! #CulturalDealEU #CultureCompass @glennmicallefmalta @CultureActionEurope @EuropaNostra @EuropeanCulturalFoundation @NelaRiehl @Martacienkowska @EuropeanCommission @EuropeanParliament

A Harmonious day at Bozar: Cantania Workshop with teachers from across Belgium. 🎶 Yesterday, the Rotonde Bertouille at the Palais des Beaux-Arts came alive with energy as 27 primary school teachers from both French- and Dutch-speaking Brussels schools joined forces for the Cantania workshop. This 'Train the Trainer' session had a dual purpose: - To prepare teachers to sing the next Cantania performance. - To equip them with tools and techniques to teach the songs to their pupils in class. What is Cantania? Cantania is a unique project that culminates in a heartwarming concert at the Henry Le Bœuf Hall, where primary school pupils and their teachers perform together. Accompanied by the Belgian National Orchestra, this festive closing concert brings the magic of music to life, celebrating the dedication and creativity of both pupils and educators. Join us on Saturday 7 June 2025 for the Cantania closing concert. Let’s fill the Henry Le Bœuf Hall with applause and cheer for these incredible children and their inspiring teachers! Info via bit.ly/4173lUb This initiative would not be possible without the generous support of our partners: Candriam Institute for Sustainable Development Fondation Les Pen’s, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation SFPIM-FPIM Fondation privée Futur 21 In collaboration with L'Auditori. Thank you for championing music education and supporting future generations. #MeaningfulPartnerships #Bozarbrussels
