The #simplification agenda may not seem particularly exciting, but you’d be surprised by the lively debate it sparked at Business & Science Poland, featuring European Commission‘s COO Pascal Leardini and the Council representatives, Minister Ignacy Niemczycki of the upcoming Polish Presidency and Malgorzata Wenerska-Craps, as well Martynas Barysas from BusinessEurope and Zach Meyers from Centre for European Reform, moderated by Joanna Sopinska from MLex The European Commission confirmed that under its #simplification agenda it will ease #Taxonomy, #CSRD, and #CS3D reporting burdens and considers a) postponing some obligations, b) introducing size-based exemptions, and/or c) addressing practical challenges, particularly the difficulty in obtaining specific data from value chains. The Polish Presidency will lead Council discussions on #betterregulation, with the COMPET Council in May 2025 focusing on this issue. The consequences of poor lawmaking impact both businesses and citizens. The EU can uphold its values, as reflected in its regulations, and extend their influence globally only if it maintains strong economic power. This requires ensuring a business-friendly environment; therefore, EU must regulate with maximum clarity, quality, and a sense of restraint and responsibility. 🎯 On 27 November, our Managing Director Witold Strzelecki participated in a meeting of the Entrepreneurs' Council for the upcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, hosted by the Polish Prime Minister’s Office. This initiative, launched by Magdalena Sobkowiak, Undersecretary of State for EU Affairs, provides a platform for exchanging views on the government’s plans and priorities for the Presidency. Business & Science Poland is actively involved in the preparations for the #Presidency and will undertake numerous activities to support its priorities and highlight the views of #BSP_Brussels members.

📅 On 26 November, our Managing Director Witold Strzelecki participated as a speaker in the “GoGreen Concrete” event organized by Heidelberg Materials Polska in Katowice, #Poland. During his speech, he discussed the current state of #nuclear energy in the European Union, with a special focus on Poland and its ambitious plans for this low-carbon source of #energy. Nuclear energy has the potential to help Poland decarbonize its economy in the most cost-efficient way. For this reason and in line with its statement on the upcoming #CleanIndustrialDeal, Business & Science Poland is calling on the European Commission to adopt a more technology-neutral approach in its policies to ensure a level-playing field for all low-carbon technologies that can contribute to achieving the EU’s decarbonization targets.
