Founded in 1989, CEDAG aims to provide a voice for the associative sector in Europe.
About us
Non profit organisations make a huge impact in improving the lives of citizens across Europe in fields as diverse as elder care, protection of the environment, cultural activities, health and consumer protection, tourism, anti discrimination, youth and sport and many more. Their contribution to the European economy in terms of GDP, job creation, innovation and training is significant. CEDAG’s main mission is to defend and promote the interests of this diverse and multifaceted sector in decision making at the European level, and to support its civil society at national level with information and advice, and activities to strengthen the community of non-profit organisations across countries and across borders. As a result, a major focus of our work is advocating for civil dialogue to be established and practiced by public authorities across Europe. We work towards a vision of a pluralist society, where participatory democracy and active citizenship help to bridge the legitimacy gap between decision makers and citizens which is increasingly apparent in modern representative democracies, not least the EU. We are supported by financial contributions from members, and through project work. CEDAG is an independent, organisation and is not affiliated to any political party or ideology, trade union, religious belief or any public or private body. CEDAG’s membership covers a majority of EU Member States, and extends beyond the borders of the EU. Its vocation is to respond to the needs of civil society, and is therefore not bounded by political borders. It welcomes and supports members from across the European continent.

Ursula von der Leyen envisions a #prosperous, democratic and #competitive #EU, Mario Draghi focuses on major #investments to maintain the EU’s competitiveness on the global market. Both aim to preserve EU’s unique model. To help achieve these goals, we need to unleash the power of the #SocialEconomy by enabling the full potential of ethical and cooperative banks, microfinance institutions, and philanthropy to invest in key sectors by revising key EU programmes like #InvestEU. Why not foster investments from citizens as well as philanthropic organisations into key local businesses operating in #greenenergy, #digitalinfrastructure and #housing? This would allow social economy organisations, specifically micro and small enterprises, to access and manage their resources democratically and flourish in these crucial sectors. This is a chance for the EU to get closer to its citizens by helping them become participants and investors in the changes the EU needs, strengthening its democratic practices at the same time. Check one of the examples here: https://lnkd.in/euDmtWUx Let’s blend diverse approaches and unleash the full potential of #SocialEconomy. Let’s enable citizens to be part of the Transition the EU needs: a green, fair and industrially strong EU. 🚨 About the audition of CEDAG by the HCVA Haut Conseil à la vie associative (#FRANCE) on the recognition of associations in Europe.
Driven by social justice, I am passionate about advising, developing, representing and advocating for sustainable & inclusive enterprises and organisations.
