| EUROPEAN SYMPOSIUM ON COPPER IN VITICULTURE |
In the context of climate change and while waiting for alternative solutions to emerge, the 2024 vintage reminds us of the necessity of copper for the viticulture sector, even though it remains aware of environmental, societal, and political concerns.
Regulations regarding copper usage are becoming increasingly stringent over the years and remain a major issue for winegrowers, researchers, and public authorities.
Organized by the COPPEREPLACE network, the conference brings together key stakeholders from the viticulture sector, research institutions, and political bodies across Europe.
It serves as a platform to discuss the methods of copper use, with insights into research advancements and alternative control measures, while exploring the political context surrounding copper regulation.
Due to the severe weather conditions in northern California, we had to postpone the Instagram Live today bertween VITAEVINO Campaign and Come-Over-October.
Our solidarity with our colleagues and the ones facing the severe bomb cyclone 🙁
Thrilled to have participated in the OENOVITI International Mini Symposium today, where I had the opportunity to present the key challenges we're facing in the labeling landscape:
🔹 New provisions on ingredient lists and nutrition declarations
🔹 Health-related information, including health warnings
🔹 Sustainability details, such as sorting instructions
It was also fascinating to hear from fellow participants about:
✅ The un-harmonized approach to energy calculation
✅ The needs and future of de-alcoholized wines
✅ The role of ESG/ CSR certifications in shaping our industry
The road ahead is demanding, but with the right tools, solid arguments, and unwavering resilience, I’m confident we can rise to the occasion! 🚀

Excited to attend OENOVITI International Symposium and contribute insights on the Wine Labelling Dossier!
Thank you for the invitation—looking forward to shedding light on this important topic!

🌍🍇 An intense and fulfilling week at the 45th World Congress of Vine and Wine in Dijon, where the OIV - International Organisation of Vine and Wine marked its Centenary!
The week was packed with insightful scientific debates, key elections, productive negotiations, and the unveiling of the OIV’s new Strategic Plan (well done, John Barker!) where an enhanced dialogue with economic operators (FIVS) is foreseen.
Special congratulations to Yvette Van Der Merwe, the newly elected OIV President, and a big thank you to Luigi Moio for his dedicated leadership throughout his mandate.
One important milestone: the adoption of a resolution harmonizing the use of digital supports (e-labels) in wine labelling—a forward-thinking step for the industry.
It was a pleasure to enjoy such beautiful landscapes, great company, and, of course, fantastic wines. Always proud to be part of the delegation of Spain at the OIV and to participate to these impactful discussions shaping the future of wine. 🍷
