Clusity 🌱 the #womenintech community

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭? This summer, we set a bold goal for Clusity 🌱 the #womenintech community: to inspire 47,000 more women in Belgium to pursue tech careers. Why 47,000? Combined with the 53,000 women already in tech, we’d reach 30% representation in the tech sector. A big step toward better gender balance. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫? Because the products and services we use every day should be created by and for everyone. Right now, they aren’t. "I totally didn't realize that IT is a man's world. I find it easy to make new contacts and belong to a group anyway. Besides, the men around me have a modern mentality; they never said I wouldn't succeed." 👩🏽🎓 On female rolemodels: "I have a fairly large number of women in my family who have a higher education. So I have never heard in my family and background that women don't need to study." ☪️ On support from colleagues who're different than her: "I am Muslim and was fasting at the time (during a student event at Flexso, ed.). Pizza was ordered for the students so I asked if I could heat it up and eat it later. No one was surprised by that. Last night, the iconic Wintercircus Ghent was coloured 💙BLUE💙 for team blue (aka KBC Bank & Verzekering) & Clusity. Here's a recap of our collab event ‘Visions of the Future’ , a celebration of innovation & technology. This inspiring event brought together students, professionals, and tech enthusiasts for a deep dive into cutting-edge advancements and visionary ideas. 🔮 🪴 We started with a word from CIO Isabel Van Mele on diversity & inclusion, and how it shapes the path of the future for companies. 🛬 Hannah Patronoudis inspired us with her crazy cases of landing a plane over fiber networks, to AI generated whatsapp marketing with the Sugababes. 🔭 Then Ingrid Creten followed up by blowing us away with her vision on innovation, from waaay back in the '80ies to waaay ahead in the future as KBC keeps on expanding. 🌟 Then we finished with a panel with Katrien Dewijngaert, Figen Kırkgöz and Luna Z. who spoke about their journeys to their current roles, their views on the importance of inclusion to have everyone raise their voice about innovative ideas, and some tips to kick-start you career. We have a really great story to share this week! She never thought that she would be working in tech, and yet, here Arianne Sanders stands as Service Delivery Manager at Colruyt Group. 🍂 ⚖️ “I don't think because I am a woman and have brought three children into the world in five years that my career should be on the back burner.” Balance, as a mom of three, partner and career woman is extremely important to Arianne. 🏺 “In 2021, I crashed. It's all cool that things have to go fast and a lot of impact was made, but I had to learn to dose better. That's why I do ceramics now: just sitting in the clay with my hands. If my head spins madly for the first half hour, so does the clay.” 💰 “I wanted to stay in the public sector. With my background in public management in a retail company, what could I do there? Could and would I work for profit-driven organizations? It's much more accessible than what I used to think. Yesterday we had an event on the topic of 'Tech for Sustainability'.🪴 We got some interesting keynotes from how Diane Umunyurwa is changing the way African business owners can go about energy-sharing with her energy-mesh technology, to how Colruyt is changing the way customers go about a daily taks like filling a shopping cart shared by Anne Everars and Hanne Hoskens. After that we had a panel with Anne Everars, Diane Umunyurwa and Arianne Sanders to talk about how they put sustainability into practice in their tech jobs, and how they're using technology to fuel sustainability efforts.
