DDS+
Architecture and Planning
We deal with architectural complexity, various project scales and mixed programmes. Based in Brussels.
About us
DDS+ was created in 2006 and now numbers around 85 dynamic, creative and motivated architects. The architectural office, based in Brussels attributes large importance to a collective spirit and to the creation of buildings that respond to what they need to be within their specific context. We focus not only on the quality of the projects themselves, but also on their contribution to the quality of the neighbourhood. We deal with architectural complexity, various project scales and mixed programs, in a generous, inventive and professional way. We advocate ethical architecture and inspired urban living. DDS+ continues exploring new ways of living, always in response to the specific local context. Looking for a subtle mix of new life-style and work-style trends, DDS+ cultivates a deep spirit of Research and Development in its team of architects. Each feasibility study, competition and project is an opportunity for co-thinking and co-constructing with our clients and various consultants the projects of tomorrow. We aim for a shared pride by everyone involved about the collective contribution to quality urban living.

[Permit Obtained for Life6 ✔️] Revitalizing an iconic building in Uccle’s Lycée Français district, the Life6 project preserves a remarkable brutalist building with 1970s architectonic concrete façades while redefining its purpose. Located on a green plot, this former care home will be transformed into a residential complex with varied housing types, guided by the building’s original volumes, materials and structure. This renovation enables a new lifecycle without demolition, embedding the building’s conservation within a broader vision that treats the existing structure as a resource to be revitalized. [Permit obtained for the renovation of Imprimerie de la Banque Nationale de Belgique ✔️] Originally custom-built for a specific use, the remarkable building of the Imprimerie de la Banque Nationale is about to be reconverted into a versatile, urban-integrated mixed-use ensemble. The project aims to preserve the existing structure's essence while ensuring its adaptability and longevity. The building's distinct morphological and spatial traits have directly contributed in shaping the project's program (Offices, Residential, Workshop spaces & Retail) facilitating functional mixity and aligning an architectural landmark with the neighborhood's current and future aspirations for increased diversity. NovaCity at the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum in "Soft Power: The Brussels Way of Making the City". Highlighting the work of the BMA - Bouwmeester Maitre Architecte team and the dynamism of the architectural scene in Brussels, this exhibition will shed light on the framework conditions that have given rise to a high-quality building culture in Brussels and will feature multiple projects from the capital, including NovaCity. If you're in Basel anytime before March 16th, make sure to stop by the exhibition!
[EVENT - EXHIBITION] 🌬️ SOFT POWER - The Brussels Way of Making the City 🏛️ “Soft Power: The Brussels Way of Making the City” exhibition in Basel, initiated by the Swiss Architecture Museum S AM, highlights the essential conditions for high-quality architectural culture through the work of BMA. The exhibition opened on the 18th of October and will remain open until March 16th, 2025. It will then continue its journey through various cities, with the intention of making a stopover in Brussels. The entire BMA team was hands on for the opening. The event was also an opportunity for the BMA to meet Beat Aeberhard, Kantonsbaumeister of Basel, and his team. For two days, there were enriching exchanges of Swiss and Belgian practices and know-how, offering a cross-section of European urban planning. These discussions were punctuated by contributions from Beat Aeberhard, Lilitt Bollinger, Salome Bessenich; and Kristiaan Borret, Tine Vandepaer, Géraldine Lacasse and Frederik Serroen -all of this lively moderated by Andreas Ruby. The trip ended with a cycling tour of Basel, in order to discover the city’s emblematic projects and future developments. If this exhibition and these discussions have highlighted the work of the BMA team, then it is above all thanks to the dynamism of the architectural scene in Brussels and all of the actors involved in the making of the city. To extend the dialogue, the Kantonsbaumeister of Basel will be in Brussels to participate at a special event, celebrating the end of Kristiaan Borret's term of office.
