On 1 January, Poland will take over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU from Hungary for the next six months. Following Hungary’s term, Poland will set the direction for the new EU mandate, with a strong focus on strengthening the Union’s resilience across all policy areas. Boy, what a year - 2024 was a wild ride at DeHavilland EU-OPP and Forefront Advisers and I can't wait to see what next year has in store. This year wouldn’t have been the same without my amazing colleagues who made every moment (big or small) truly special. Arrivederci, see you in 2025! 🎉

"All I Want for Christmas issssss EUUUUUUUUU!" Whilst it looks like I'm getting practice belting out Christmas songs over the festive period, I'm not sure the reviews of my performance would go in my favour. Last week I had the pleasure of being in attendance at ISPO Munich for the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry General Assembly. Representing OPP-DeHavilland & Forefront Advisers, we dove into the results of the European elections, the early political dynamics unfolding since June, the composition of the newly seated European Commission, and what to look out for early in the next mandate. Big thank you to Jerome Pero, Ariane Gatti and the whole FESI team for the organisation and making the experience so welcoming. We always enjoy being out and about, engaging with and exploring the world of EU policy and politics; so don't hesitate to give us a shout! Wrapping up a productive week at ISPO Munich and our FESI General Assembly! 🚀🇩🇪                 This week, we had the chance to combine our General Assembly with a visit to ISPO Munich, the world’s biggest sporting goods trade fair. A huge thank thanks to Tobias Gröber and the ISPO team for their warm hospitality – it’s always a pleasure to attend ISPO events and engage with peers and innovators from the industry.    Throughout the week, our team actively contributed to key events and conversations: 🔹 Jerome Pero attended the Atomic Ski Summit, sharing valuable data & figures on the EU ski market and providing an overview of key #sustainability files shaping the sector’s future. He also spoke at the European Outdoor Group (EOG) General Assembly, focusing on the upcoming 🇪🇺EU elections and emerging policy trends.  🔹 Chiara Mingozzi participated in the Supply Chain Forum, where she presented critical EU due diligence initiatives🌿 impacting the sporting goods sector and outlining next steps for implementation.   At our General Assembly, we welcomed familiar and NEW faces, including the addition of ASICS as a new member of FESI and the official appointement of Julie Sutton as our new Board member from VF Corporation👏 We were also privileged to hear from an incredible lineup of speakers: ✔️ Neil Narriman, FESI President, who opened the event with a powerful keynote on the past year’s achievements of FESI ✔️ Andy Rubin and Emma P. (Mason) Zwiebler from the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), sharing global perspectives and ways to strengthen the collaboration spirit between both our federations  ✔️ Stefan Rosenkranz from the BSI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Sportartikelindustrie e.V. , addressing recent policy developments in Germany  ✔️ Asher Websdale from OPP & Forefront Advisers, with an in-depth policy analysis of the EU elections and what to expect under the new mandate.    Last but not least, we were extremely honored to join the first meeting of the Global Game Changers initiative, led by our VP Charlotte Cox from Pentland Group Limited, reflecting on #women empowerment in the sporting goods industry—an initiative we strongly support.
