Op 19 september 2024 vond in DE SINGEL de 18de editie van de Anet Gebruikersdag plaats in samenwerking met de Bibliotheek van het Royal Conservatoire Antwerp | Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen (AP Hogeschool Antwerpen). Van boeiende informatiesessies tot creatieve intermezzo’s zoals de Anet Quiz en een rondleiding in de bibliotheek en het indrukwekkende archief van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen: het programma was gevarieerd en bood voor ieder wat wils! In de namiddag konden de deelnemers kiezen uit verschillende simultane sessies waarbij er dieper werd ingegaan op allerlei thema’s zoals A.I., selectieprofielen en logistiek archiefbeheer. Natuurlijk was er ook voldoende tijd om bij te praten met collega’s tijdens de pauzes en de lunch. Hannah Aelvoet sloot de dag muzikaal af met drie korte fragmenten uit de pianomuziek van Peter Benoit, stichter en eerste directeur van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen. Bedankt aan alle deelnemers en sprekers voor de boeiende ontmoeting! Ook een welgemeende dankjewel aan Jan Dewilde en zijn team om mee hun schouders te zetten onder de organisatie van deze geslaagde dag. Over the summer, these rising stars gathered at DE SINGEL to bring their visions to life under the guidance of Naomi Waku. Now, it’s time for the big reveal!⁠ ⁠ On 5 October, the ten talents will share their take on make-up and their designs—captured on film—during the Alter Ensor Screening Event at MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp. Join us on 15 October in DE SINGEL in Antwerp for a lecture by Lydia Kallipoliti. As part of the 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘉𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘰 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘦 festival, DE SINGEL and the Flanders Architecture Institute invited Kallipoliti to reflect on her recently published book 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯: 𝘈𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢. Kallipoliti defines different eras in which philosophers, architects and designers conceived various forms of co-habiting our planet. Today with the emergency of the climate crisis, she will take us on a journey of reflection on our past practices of intervening the earth in making cities, spaces and objects. Lydia Kallipoliti is an architect, engineer and scholar whose research focuses on the intersections of architecture, technology and environmental politics. I am honored to be asked to explain the transformation journey of DE SINGEL this week at the Arts & Culture Community Meetup, during Dreamforce, the annual high mass for AI, digital transformation and innovation, in San Francisco. This time I was bringing along Mike Verledens, CEO of our Salesforce partner Sparklink. It was so great to share our story and be inspired by so many others. Big thanks to Valerie Brown and Mike Brown for providing a platform to share this story of efficiency with the arts community worldwide. Thanks for the trust and enthusiasm. Can't wait for more! Also very grateful for all the inspiring conversations and reflections, with the Ukrainien Red Cross, Rene Dompeling, Andrea Goezinne and everyone I met. Exploring what's new in AI in the crazy city of San Francisco while Gavin Newson the Gouvernour of California signed 3 bills to combat deepfake in video during the elections was really very exciting. Oh well, and a ride in the driverless car, Waymo could not be missed, of course. San Francisco. You were amazing. Op donderdag 29 augustus openden de architecten van graft hun installatie op het voorplein van DE SINGEL. Hun Tafelzetting verbeeldt hoe we in Vlaanderen het landschap en het wonen weer met elkaar kunnen verweven. Het startpunt hiervoor is 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘮 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦, een verbouwing van een royaal, vrijstaand huis aan de rand van Hoogstraten tot drie compacte woningen. On Thursday 29 August, the architects of graft opened their installation on the forecourt of DE SINGEL. Their Table setting depicts ideas of reintertwining landscape and living in Flanders. The starting point for this is 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘮 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦, a conversion of a generous, detached house on the outskirts of Hoogstraten into three compact dwellings.
