For DPS, working on Offshore Wind Projects marks “a new chapter,” says Martin D. Valsted, Renewable Energy Manager. Martin has recently returned from Japan, where he oversaw pre-planning activities and ensured that all necessary reporting steps were in place for the initial operations at the Kitakyushu Hibikinada Offshore Wind Farm. This project comprises 25 turbines, each with a rotor diameter of 174 meters and a capacity of 9,600 kW. “The moment we are on-site to ensure that all our pre-planning efforts and expectation management processes come together for a project like this, it’s definitely worth the trip,” Martin explains. He emphasizes the importance of personal interaction with local partners. Close collaboration with NIPPON KAIJI KENTEI KYOKAI (NKKK) at both their Tokyo headquarters and their local office in Kitakyushu was vital. Together, they meticulously analyzed the scope of work, addressing aspects such as local content, system reporting requirements, QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment), and loss prevention awareness, all while respecting cultural nuances. 🚢 Salvage Operation for MV "ONE Hammersmith" Under Lloyd's Open Form 2024 On 27th September 2024, while en route from Asia to Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Le Havre, the MV "ONE Hammersmith" encountered main engine issues, leaving the vessel adrift near the coast of Brittany, France. The French salvage company Les Abeilles quickly mobilized their tug, "Abeille Bourbon," which successfully towed the ship to a safe anchorage under a Lloyd's Open Form 2024 contract. Salvage services concluded on 2nd October, and the vessel has since resumed its journey after discharging cargo in Rotterdam and Hamburg. To secure the salvage operation, Hill Dickinson and Groniger Welke Janssen have been appointed to arrange LOF salvage or ISU1 security at 5% of the CIF value.
