At EGI, the Balkans remain a key focus for us in Europe. ⚡💡 The region has made great progress in developing its electricity markets. Many countries now have liberalized markets, active energy exchanges, and cross-border trade, setting the stage for deeper integration into the pan-European electricity market—a vital step for economic growth and energy security. Here’s how non-EU countries in the Balkans are advancing: ✅ Expanding renewable energy: The region is beginning to harness its solar, wind, and hydropower potential. ✅ Upgrading grid infrastructure: New connections with EU countries are enabling better market access. ✅ Aligning with EU standards: Countries are adopting EU market rules, bringing them closer to EU membership. Connecting the Balkan electricity markets with Europe’s grid benefits everyone. Europe gains a more stable and diverse energy supply, while the Balkans benefit from investment, lower energy costs, and economic growth, helping them move closer to the EU. The future looks promising for the Balkans. Together, we can build a stronger and more sustainable energy system for all of Europe. 💡

As Thailand takes steps to liberalise its electricity market and introduce Third-Party Access (TPA), the The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is preparing to adapt its distribution system for this new era. To support this transformation, we had the honour to deliver a dynamic two-week capacity-building program, bringing together PEA staff and Elia Group experts. The sessions explored the dynamics of European electricity markets, the flexibility needs of tomorrow’s power systems, consumer-centric market design, innovative tariff principles, and balancing services. ✨ A highlight of the program was a visit to EPEX SPOT, ENTRNCE and Alliander, where participants gained valuable insights into their cutting-edge operations and approaches to market design and grid management. At EGI, we are proud to partner with PEA on this exciting journey toward a modern, flexible, and competitive energy market, empowering people and paving the way for a sustainable energy future. 💡 Big kudos for our colleagues for their contribution to this project ! We recently conducted a 1-week training for engineers from the Egypt Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) as part of the EETC Blackout Restoration Strategy project. Over two group sessions, around 40 engineers were trained on transmission system defence and restoration plans. The program included system restoration simulations to help participants understand the steps involved in restoring the complex Egyptian transmission network.⚡ We were pleased to welcome Eng. Mona Rezq Ibrahim, CEO of EETC, on the final day of the training, highlighting the importance of this initiative for the sector.🔧 At EGI, we are proud to contribute to building the skills and expertise needed to strengthen Egypt’s transmission system restoration, helping ensure a more reliable and resilient power grid.🌍 👏 A big thank you to our colleagues for their dedication and expertise in delivering this training. Great work, team! Shahid Mehmood, Fahad Mansoor Chekib Ben Rayana and Avtandili Todua 💪💪💪💪
