📢Africa RISE final event was yesterday ! ✅After 4 years of implementation, the #EU #Africa RISE Facility will be officially closed in December 2024. To celebrate the programme's achievements, on November 6th, 2024 Africa RISE and INTPA hosted a closure event “The Rise of Africa RISE: What can we learn from the implementation of the EU Africa RISE Facility” 🎯The objective of this event was to share learnings, talk about the Facility model, the results achieved, including contribution towards the #GlobalGateway, the partnership model that underpin our work, highlighting key takeaways for INTPA, #EUD, and other projects could take on beyond. 🗞️📢Africa RISE on the news ! ℹ️Africa RISE in collaboration with Switch to #Green launched a national awareness campaign in #Lusaka! Our mission was to #educate the community about proper #waste sorting and collection, and the crucial role in creating a #cleaner and #greener #environment. 🎯TheObjectives of the campaign were: 1️⃣To raise #awareness about the #EPR #PRO pilot 2️⃣To engage targeted communities of Lusaka to actively participate in the pilot 3️⃣ To educate and improve student's awareness in Lusaka on good #wastemanagement practices 🎯This first EPR pilot in Zambia was to test the concept implementation on the ground in Lusaka neighborhoods. 📢📅 Event : Africa RISE is still on the go as today our team leader Mihaela Balan participates to show case our work at the KEPRO Kenya conference. She will be showcasing our work on a #digital solution ( the #KOLEKT App) that can improve collaboration between a #consumer goods company (or #PRO) and a #waste collection company both in #Kenya and #Mozambique. 📅The KEPRO Annual #CircularEconomy Conference 2024 aims to bring together #international, #regional, and #local thought #leaders, #academics, practitioners, #policymakers, and stakeholders from various sectors to explore crucial conversations around #sustainability, the circular economy, and #ethical behavior. 🎯The technical assistance from Africa RISE supported a trial and demonstration of the process and the engagement of a consumer goods company (or PRO), waste management operator, #recycler and auditor that are willing to trial the service. Ultimately the first trial aimed to improve the service, so that it can be scaled up in #Kenya, #Mozambique and outside, so that the polluter pays principle is supported by a convenient mechanism that allows for more waste to be collected and recycled. 🎯For this project, KEPRO and the Mozambican #Recycling Association (AMOR) requested Africa RISE’s support to test a full demonstration of the following digital solution for Kenya & Mozambique. This support from Africa RISE will provide a demonstration of how a digital waste management process can work online both in Kenya and Mozambique.
