While digital environments offer educational and social benefits that are key for the healthy development of #children, they also pose significant risks like cyberbullying, sexual abuse and exploitation, and negative mental health outcomes. Just as we ensure toys are safe for children, we can and must ensure that every #digital product, service, and platform accessible to children is safe and secure. Eurochild’s latest position paper calls for a nuanced approach to #childirights in the #digitalenvironment. It’s not just about prevention and protection, it’s about empowering children by realising their rights online: the right to participation, information, safety, privacy and freedom of expression. This requires: 🔸 Policymakers to implement and enforce strong legal frameworks that protect children; 🔸 Companies to create digital services that safeguard child rights, actively listening to and respecting their perspectives. Cyclone Chido's passage over #Mayotte has left the island swept, ravaged, and bare. Almost a month later, the population remains helpless and is only slowly gaining access to basic resources. Eurochild member, Haki Za Wanatsa and Collectif CIDE Outre-mer are drawing attention to the living and care conditions of marginalized populations, as well as the adequacy of the emergency response to this total disaster. See how you can support their efforts in delivering aid to families and #children: https://buff.ly/4hizLzJ

The European Commission’s 2025 #EuropeanSemester Autumn Package highlights key socio-economic priorities for the year ahead, with a strong focus on tackling #childpoverty and #socialexclusion. While progress has been made, challenges remain in achieving 2030 targets, particularly around #earlychildhood education and #inclusiveeducation. Eurochild calls for a stronger emphasis on #childrights through initiatives like the #EUChildGuarantee to ensure no child is left behind. In 2024, the young participants of #ProgettoDay had the opportunity to meet with their local policy-makers to share their ideas on how to transform the city of #Napoli. One of their key proposals was aligning local transport timetables with school schedules to reduce dropout rates. This powerful initiative highlights the importance of youth voices and ideas in shaping our communities. Watch our documentary to learn more about this inspiring project: https://buff.ly/3DkSPir

While some countries have taken steps to promote children's rights, others need to intensify their efforts. This diversity is reflected in the lived realities of children.
