"The two days of workshop portrayed the whole ecosystem, bringing all important stake holders to talk about each role supporting the startups to grow". said the participants. So, I am very grateful for having amazing guests joining our event to explain several topics in venture capital: Ana Maria Andronic and Vlad Druța talked about legal aspects, Matei Dumitrescu about accelerators role, Cosmin Ochisor about a VC and co-investing with angels, Marius Istrate about post investment, George Lemnaru and Bogdan Nicoară about their financing journeys. We had startups pitching to raise money, and many angels interested din the follow up meeting with Rayscape, Bankata, Questo and Vatis - all technology companies on a scaling path. TechAngels had the honor of co-hosting a two days Angel Investing training session at Impact Hub, part of the ESIL 2 program, in collaboration with Bravva Angels and @Bussiness Angel Europe. The workshop welcomed 40 current and aspiring angels eager to deepen their knowledge and develop skills for supporting startups post-investment. Representing TechAngels, Malin-Iulian Stefanescu, VP and Marius Istrate, Chairman of the Board, shared their insights as part of the Romanian angel network, enriching the program with their expertise and personal experiences. The today session included 👩🎓 International expertise: We were privileged to have guest angel trainers from France, Florence Richardson and Philippe Gluntz, who led the participants through eight comprehensive modules on deal sourcing, assessment, and post-investment strategies. 👥 Real-World Guidance: Marius Istrate, Chairman of TechAngels, addressed the critical role of post-investment support, emphasizing the unique contributions angels make beyond capital: ➡️Adopt a realistic mindset: Treat the investment as “money gone,” which allows any return to feel like a bonus rather than a given. ➡️Practice patience: Supporting a founder requires a different skill set than running a business; holding back is often more valuable than stepping in. ➡️Embrace the “business angel etiquette”: Be supportive, offer constructive challenges, and stay involved without overstepping. ➡️Be available for founders: Unlike VC partners, angels often play the role of trusted advisors and sounding boards. ➡️Put business needs first: Always ensure your requests to founders align with the company’s growth, not personal gain. 🤝 Participants also benefited from insights shared by other local experts in VC, legal considerations, and entrepreneurship. The event fostered lively discussions, case studies, and real-time assessments in an interactive format that encouraged open dialogue. This workshop exemplifies the value of collaborative learning in the ESIL program, fostering Romania’s angel investing ecosystem and empowering investors to build impactful, founder-centered relationships.
