European Fire Safety Alliance
Public Safety
An independent alliance of professionals working to improve fire safety in domestic homes in Europe
About us
Most fires occur in homes and almost all are preventable. With the minimum of effort, we can protect thousands of people in Europe against fire. Because fire safety is a co-production, we aim at (multidisciplinary) cooperation. The European Fire Safety Alliance is an independent alliance of fire professionals and exists to reduce the risk from fire. European Fire Safety Alliance (EuroFSA) is an independent alliance of fire professionals whose mission is to reduce the risks from fire, especially in domestic area. Our policy is based on the European Fire Safety Action Plan developed in cooperation with many European experts – the first evidence and knowledge based fire safety agenda for Europe. Our aim is creating an international network of relevant partners (EU institutions, Fire & Rescue Services, researchers, scientists, industry) acting for improvement of fire safety and for putting it on a higher level in the EU political agenda.

✅️ Yesterday I was present at the high-level political discussion with the key policy makers in Europe at the heart of European decision-making to discuss the to-do's to make Europe 'firesafe'. ⚠️ And there is a lot of work to be done to create a fire-safe(r) environment for the most vulnerable people, the elderly and children in society. 🤝 It is in any case a combination of efforts made by governments, Europe, industry and the citizens themselves. ⚠️ The most striking thing is that the most vulnerable in society live in the most unsafe homes and apartments, with -perhaps- the least access to preventive measures. They are therefore the ones who benefit most from all the efforts made in this regard. 🔥 Because 5,000 fatalities in house fires every year, which may still be an underestimation, is simply far too many! 🤝 So let's join forces and work towards a fire-safe society for everyone! Thank you Theresa Griffin for hosting this beautiful event at the European Parliament and to help keeping fire safety beautiful! What can YOU do as a citizen? 👉 Install smoke (and CO) alarms 👉 Create an evacuation plan (and exercise it with your family) 👉 Live firesafe #EuropeanSmokeAlarmDay #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #SmokeAlarmDay #EUFSW24 #firesafety #FireSafeEurope 👉 https://lnkd.in/eda843kj European Fire Safety Alliance - FEU Fire Officers - Nederlands Instituut Publieke Veiligheid (NIPV) - Oscare vzw - Leef Brandveilig - Netwerk Brandweer - European Burns Association (EBA) - Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting - Stichting Brandwonden - Fondation des brûlés - European Commission - ANEC - Euralarm - Forum for European Electrical Domestic Safety - Fire Safe Europe (FSEU)

🔔 Today is European Smoke Alarm Day – Let's Make Every Home Safer! 🔔 Every year, 5,000 lives are lost in Europe due to fires, and countless others suffer life-altering injuries. These tragedies are preventable with simple measures: smoke alarms and CO (carbon monoxide) sensors. As winter approaches, the risk of fire and CO poisoning increases. Now is the time to install and test your alarms and ensure they’re ready to protect you and your loved ones. Don’t think “It won’t happen to me". Fire and CO incidents can affect anyone—but they don’t have to end in tragedy. During this European Fire Safety Week, Euralarm has joined forces with key stakeholders including MEP's , European Commission, the European Fire Safety Alliance ,ANEC and Oscare and other European associations to spread awareness about the importance of home safety. But we need your help to amplify this message: 👉 Talk to your family, friends, and colleagues about installing smoke and CO sensors. 👉 Remind them: these devices are affordable, easy to install, and save lives. 👉 Together, we can prevent senseless loss and ensure safer communities across Europe. 👉 Talk and Plan: Sit down with your family to discuss what to do if the alarm goes off—create an escape plan, identify exits, and choose a safe meeting spot outside your home. Let’s make safety a priority—because prevention starts with awareness. #EuropeanSmokeAlarmDay #FireSafety #COAwareness #TestYourAlarms #SaveLives If you want to help increasing awareness on fire safety please share this message in your network
